Final public hearing on county tax rate Tuesday
Polk County Enterprise
LIVINGSTON — Polk County taxpayers will have one more chance to address County Commissioners about the proposed county tax rate of 62.77 cents per $100 in taxable value at a public hearing set for 4 p.m Tuesday. Although the proposed rate is the same as last year, county officials had to give notice of a tax increase because it exceeds last year’s effective tax rate. Increases in the tax roll overall will increase property tax revenue by $773,034 (based on a collection rate of 95 percent), or 4.96 percent. The expense side of the county budget will increase $310,473, which includes a 6.65 percent increase ($141,000) in employee health insurance premiums, increased retirement payments and higher premiums for property, auto and liability insurance.
