Christmas parade being revived

ONALASKA – With the return of the parade, those wishing to take part in Onalaska's annual Christmas in Our Town are being urged to begin their preparations. When the annual holiday event's location was moved from the Onalaska Elementary School, the parade was side tracked. However, Boss Elf Patti Johnson has figured out a way to bring it back. This year things will start with a parade from Onalaska City Hall to the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department's station on Old Groveton Road at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Santa will arrive during the parade, likely on a big fire engine, and stay all day visiting the children. Activities during the day include bungee jumps, monkey race, water race, goldfish giveaway, paint ball, face painting and the Lions Club Money in the Corn give away. There will be arts and crafts for sale and food vendors on hand to slake your appetite. All activities and contests are free and each hour two bicycles will be given away – one for a boy and one for a girl. At 5:30 p.m., as part of the official tree lighting by the City of Onalaska, there will be a huge bike giveaway. Participants must be present to win and can pick up tickets when instructed after each give away. To sign up for the parade contact Patti Johnson at 936- 5646-6601 and for more information for vendors check the web page at info@christmasinourtown. com
