Man held on felony assault charge
LIVINGSTON – A 27-year-old Livingston man was arrested early Monday on felony charges following a disturbance at his uncle's residence. Jeremy Brent Fancher was charged with felony aggravated assault on a family member with a weapon, felony tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanor interfering with an emergency call. He was ordered held under bonds totaling $42,500. According to Lt. Matt Parrish of the Livingston Police Department, Sgt. Chad Ward and Officer Jason Thomas re- sponded to a call in the 700 block of Abby Street at about 1:30 a.m. Monday. Upon arrival, the officers met a man in the driveway of a residence who told them his nephew had come home in an intoxicated state and had threatened to kill him. Subsequent investigation indicated that the suspect had also threatened his aunt, using a large knife. "When his aunt tried to call 9-1-1 for help, he knocked the phone out of her hand. The phone fell behind her bed, preventing her from making the call," Parrish said, adding this action was the basis for the misdemeanor interfering with an emergency call charge. The tampering with evidence charge was filed because police believe when the suspect heard them arrive, he attempted to hid the knife in a closest to prevent the officers from finding it.
