Three injured avoiding dog
LIVINGSTON – Three people were injured Friday in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 59 North. A 2004 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Bethany Lynn Jordan Hart, 17, of Burlington, Iowa was northbound when a dog attempted to cross the highway, according to Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Robert Akers. Hart steered to the left to avoid hitting the dog, then overcorrected back to the right causing the car to spin out of control, the investigation showed. The car traveled off the east side of the highway, turning end-overend, and struck a barbed wire fence. The driver and one of two passengers, 33-year-old Joseph Kenneth McNeill, were listed with non-incapacitating injuries and were transported by ambulance to the Livingston hospital. The second passenger, 45-year-old Jenny Marie Hart, was transported by medical helicopter to East Texas Medical Center, Tyler. The driver was ticketed for failure to maintain financial responsibility in connection with the accident, which occurred at 7:55 p.m.
