Back to School blowout planned for Aug. 2
LIVINGSTON — The Livingston-Polk County Chamber of Commerce and Livingston Independent School District are partnering for a Shop Local/Back to School Blowout from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at Anniversary Park in downtown Livingston. Parents and students will be able to "meet and greet" campus administrators and PTO officers and get familiar with the clubs and organizations available on campus. Youth organizations and activities from the community (karate, dance, 4-H, etc.) will be represented as well and school supply drives will be under way to help students who have a tough time getting prepared for the new school year. Each campus will have a booth set up to hand out school supply lists, registration information packed, etc. Several clubs and organizations will set up tables to sell T-shirts and distribute information about their activities. Several downtown businesses will have special sales and deals for shoppers who arrive prior to 5:30 p.m. If you would like to learn more about cheerleading, dance team, athletic boosters, JROTC, FFA, band, choir or other school-sponsored or community based youth groups this event will be an excellent opportunity for you to get to know the people involved. For more information, contact Barbara Shaw, director of student resources, 936- 328-2337 or the Chamber of Commerce at 936-327-4929.
