Homeowner's video leads to burglary arrest
LIVINGSTON – A 30-year-old Livingston man was taken into custody Monday on a burglary charge stemming from a Jan. 14 break-in at a Blanchard area residence. Samuel Richard Loyd was charged with burglary of a habitation in connection with the break-in and was being held early this week in lieu of a $10,000 bond. The Polk County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, using images caught on a video camera put into place by the property owner, solicited help through Crime Stoppers and the public. On Jan. 14, the Polk County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation into a burglary of a habitation. Acting on tips from the public, on Monday detectives went to a residence that had been identified as belonging to Loyd. Investigators said the suspect gave them a statement, in which he implicated himself in the crime. Detectives were able to recover nearly all of the property taken during the burglary. Sheriff's detectives expressed their thanks to the public for the "overwhelming response" to the plea for tips on this case.
