Resignation on council's agenda
BY BRIAN BESCH
GOODRICH -- The city of Goodrich will meet Thursday to accept the resignation of an alderman and approve purchases. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in Goodrich City Hall at 1003 U.S. Highway State Loop 393. Mayor Pro-Tem Susan Ryman filed a letter of resignation on Dec. 27 and effective immediately. The reason for her resignation is unknown and attempts to contact Ryman were not returned. Council will accept her resignation Thursday and appoint a check signer to replace her. Ryman leaves the council with four months until the election on May 10 will fill the seat. Council will also discuss the purchase of two stop signs, a street sign, two posts and labor for a total of $475. If approved, a stop sign will be placed at the corners of Minor and East Street, with the other at the corner of Pennington and Windham Ranch Road. The street sign would be placed on Pennington Road. An update will be presented to council for the clean up on Williams Street. The check valve failure just before Thanksgiving at a residence resulted in council authorizing further investigation with costs to mediate the damages in an executive meeting last month. A discussion and possible purchase of 14 loads of crushed concrete for the sewer plant road for $3,500 will continue an item that was tabled in October of last year. The concrete would be used to build the sewer plant road that will lead to a storage building housing chemicals and testing equipment. The City of Goodrich has posted the seats available for city council on its bulletin board near the structure's front door. Applications for alderman seats three, four and five are now available to citizens of the city of Goodrich. They will be accepted Jan. 29 – Feb. 28 at city hall.
