Final debris pick up rescheduled for Dec. 1

LIVINGSTON -- The final pick-up of debris left in the wake of Hurricane Harvey has been rescheduled for Friday, Dec. 1, according to the Polk County Office of Emergency Management. Debris removal contractors will make a final pick-up of flood debris within the flood-affected mandatory evacuation area of the county to include Holiday Lake Estates, River Lake Estates, Taylor Lake Estates and Siesta Country Sections 3-5 on Dec. 1. The final debris collection had originally been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 24, but had to be rescheduled. The OEM office apologized for any inconvenience this change may have caused. Polk County residents need to dispose of household garbage in the same manner utilized prior to the disaster. Residents are urged to place flood debris along the roadside immediately. Construction debris, household hazardous wastes, electronics and white goods should be sorted into piles and placed along the roadside.
