SuperStar auditions planned in September

 

LIVINGSTON -- Who is the best singer in Polk County in 2017? R.E.A.D. Inc. (Reading Encourages Advanced Development), Polk County's branch of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, will be conducting auditions for individual vocal performers to present a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Livingston Intermediate School Auditorium. Auditions will be held on Sept. 8 and 16, starting at noon, at The Bradford at Brookside on W. Park Blvd. in Livingston (behind CHI St. Luke's Hospital). Appointments to audition can be made by calling Brenda at (936) 328-5021, or contestants can fill out an audition form at Milam Street Coffee House and Bakery at 705 N. Washington in Livingston. The entry fee for auditioning is $25. Professional musician judges from outside Polk County will determine the SuperStar and runners-up at the gala concert on Oct. 7. The SuperStar winner will receive $500. Also scheduled at the concert event will be a drawing for a Jeep Compass. Raffle tickets are on sale from any member of the R.E.A.D. board, or at the office of Kole Puckett, Church Street Financial, 2123 Hwy. 190 West, Livingston, during business hours, Monday through Friday. R.E.A.D. Inc. is a 501c(3) nonprofit, tax-deductible group organized by members of the Livingston Rotary Club to act as a means of providing free, age-appropriate, highquality books to registered Polk County children between the ages of newborn to age five, an activity of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. All proceeds of the SuperStar concert and drawing for the Jeep will benefit the Imagination Library's provision of books to Polk County youngsters.
