One-car crash kills local man

LIVINGSTON – A 49-year-old Livingston man was killed early Thursday in a one-vehicle accident on FM 3126 at Pinehurst Road.

The deceased, Jose A. Torres Rocha, was a passenger in a 2000 GMC Denali driven by Terri Lynn Rackel, 34, of Livingston, according to Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Larry Pitts.
Pitts said the vehicle was westbound on FM 3126 at a high rate of speed. It traveled off the left side of the road, flipped numerous times and struck a tree. Both occupants, who were not wearing seat belts, were ejected, Pitts said.

Rocha was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Larry Whitworth. His body was taken to Pace Funeral Home.

Rackel, listed with incapacitating injuries, was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident, which occurred at 3:55 a.m.
