Big Sandy’s pride
Polk County Enterprise, June 21, 2007
To the editor:
I would like to tell you about a young man that I believe deserves recognition for his accomplishments in basketball recently.
Kyle Roberds of Livingston recently competed among 310 young men to try out as one of the top eight best shooters during a half-time game in Houston. He was third of the top eight. Those eight returned to the Toyota Center to compete against each other. Kyle placed second, winning a trophy and a cash prize of $1,000 for his school, Big Sandy. He intends to compete again next year.
He loves all sports and has played baseball and football, but basketball is his first passion. Kyle has gone to Livingston schools all his life until he transferred to Big Sandy in January. He will be a senior this year. He has also coached younger children.
Kyle is a member of Rainbow Baptist Church in Rye and very active there. He runs the sound system every Sunday and sometimes sings.
His parents and grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Roberds and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Roberds.
Kyle is also the proud uncle of Mia and Brendon Martinez.
Family and friends are very proud of him.

To the editor:
Thank you, Livingston!
Residents and staff from Timberwood Nursing and Rehab would like to thank everyone who participated in our 13th annual BBQ. We had a great time eating, listening to music, visiting with old friends and making new friendships. We all enjoyed the day so much! We couldn’t have done without your generous help and support.
Timberwood would like to add a special thanks to “the gang”: [local businesses, funeral homes], Pine Hill Apartments, Onalaska Fire Department, Marty and Soncho the Steer from Lufkin, Crimestoppers Band from Lufkin, Ocean’s Beh. Hospital… LaDonna, Mike Fuller, Anne Parrish, VFW, Col. Daniels, A-Pineywood Hospital, Texas Home Health and the Dietary Department at Timberwood.
As activity director and my first BBQ at Timberwood Nursing, I truly appreciate all departments’ cooperation and team work for making this annual event a huge success.
