School Board election sure to be hot topic this season

LIVINGSTON – In addition to helping decide the fate of proposed amendments to the state’s constitution, voters in the Livingston Independent School District will also be selecting a new school board member on Nov. 6.
Trustee Sidney Murphy resigned from the board July 16 in order to seek another political office.
Two candidates, George Harrell and Mike Nettles, have filed to fill the vacancy. Initially, local realtor Patsy Boone had filed as a candidate, but she has since withdrawn from the race, according to school officials.
Applications for ballots by mail are being accepted will continue to be accepted through Oct. 30. Trustees have appointed Shirley Crager to serve as election judge.
Early voting by personal appearance will begin Oct. 22 in Livingston City Hall.
