Motorcycle Accident Claims Life
Polk County Enterprise - November 2007
LIVINGSTON — Paul Riley Lowery, 39, of Pasadena, died at 10:13 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 after his 2001 blue Harley Davidson motorcycle hit the guardrail on FM 2610 approximately 11.5 miles south of Livingston, according to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Trooper Sammy Lattner said the motorcycle was traveling westbound on FM 2610 and left the roadway to the right and struck the blunt portion of the guardrail.
Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Steve McEntrye pronounced Lowery dead at the scene of the crash.
The front wheel detached from the motorcycle and came to trest in the westbound lane of FM 2610, Lattner’s report said.
A softball-sized hole was punched into the right side of the gas tank and the motorcycle caught fire, causing substantial damage to the motorcycle.
Failure to drive in a single marked lane was ruled as the cause of the accident.
