Possession of a Controlled Substance
Polk County Enterprise - November 2007
Tammy Varnell Johnson, 44, of Ace, was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram, schedule I; possession of a controlled substance less than 28 grams, schedule III. She also was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
The arrest followed a traffic stop by LPD officers during which time the officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Officers noticed the passenger, Johnson, lean over and put something that appeared to be a crack pipe in a black purse.
After obtaining a consent to search from the driver, David Green Richards, 43, of Ace, officers found a cigarette pack containing a usable amount of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana; a glass pipe with a filter and burnt residue; a plastic wrapper with what appeared to be crack cocaine.
The substance later tested positive for the presence of cocaine, Parish said.
Officers also located a prescription bottle that listed a name other than the two occupants of the vehicle. The bottle contained 33 grams of hydrocodone and Xanax.
