Injured infant to be released from hospital

Hospital officials at UTMB-Galveston notified Lt. Craig Finegan of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office that they expect to release the infant who suffered serious injuries at his home
Monday from the hospital over the weekend.

The 12-month-old suffered a skull fracture, two jaw fractures and severe facial swelling, hospital officials told Finegan.

He required treatment in the trauma center’s pediatric ICU for several days to manage his airway, which was narrowed by the swelling from the trauma.
