Detectives probe theft of heavy equipment, FM 942 burglary

LIVINGSTON — Polk County Stoppers is offering a reward for information about the theft of a 2002 Kubota track hoe from a job site on FM 350 south sometimes during the night of Feb. 4.
The excavator is orange in color and valued at $30,000 and belongs to Tempe Water Supply, according to Det. Stan Galloway with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information about the equipment theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (936) 327-STOP or the sheriff’s office at (936) 327-6810. All calls are confidential.

Deputies also are continuing the investigation into the burglary of a residence on FM 942 East in the Hortense Community.

Suspects entered the house some time between 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

When the resident returned home, he found the back door open and damage done to the dead bolt lock.

A check of the residence showed that jewelry, firearms and ammunition were missing.

Stolen intems include a Winchester 30-30 lever-action shotgun; a Mossberg 410 pump shotgun; a Stevens .22 caliber single shot rifle; two Marlin .22 caliber rifle, one stainless steel and another blued; a Kodak digital camera; a men’s watch with engraved locomotive on the back and various boxes of ammunition.

The owners provided serial numbers for the firearms and they were entered as stolen with the Texas Crime Information Cent
