Stabbing of 16-year-old lands older sister in jail

LIVINGSTON — Amanda Dawn Jackson, 18, of Livingstonhas been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weaponagainst a family member in connection with a stabbing incidenton Old Israel Road at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, PolkCounty Sheriff’s Lt. Craig Finegan said.During an argument at Jackson’s residence, Finegan said thewoman stuck a fork to the chest of her 16-year-old brother, but thefork did not penetrate his skin or cause and injury.The juvenile broke away from her and went to sit down in achair in another room, the reports show, when she approached thevictim from behind with a knife she found in another room.
She stabbed him in the right side of the chest causing a col-lapsed lung.The suspect escaped into a wooded area near the house. The victim was taken to Memorial Medical Center-Livingston wherehe underwent surgery to repair the wound and reinflate the col-lapsed lung.While evading officers in the woods, the suspect injured a foot and a deputy located her.
She was arrested at 2 p.m. Thursday and taken to the Polk County Jail. She was released on a $5,000 bond on the first degree felony charge.
