Hon named a director of DA’s group

AUSTIN, TX---Polk County Criminal District Attorney William Lee Hon has been appointed to serve as a director of the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association (TDCAA). The appointment was made in February by Brazos County District Attorney Bill Turner, the current president of the TDCAA Board of Directors. The TDCAA board is comprised s i x t e e n directors including four officers, four a t - l a r g e positions, and eight r e g i o n a l directors. Hon will serve as the Region 5 Director for a term ending in December 2010. The Texas District and County Attorney’s Association, headquartered in Austin, originated in 1905 and was established to promote the improvement of prosecution and government representation in the State of Texas. It accomplishes this mission by providing educational and technical assistance to prosecutors and their staffs, by providing educational and technical assistance to the law enforcement community, and by serving as a resource in criminal law and government representation matters.
TDCAA maintains a membership of over 5700 elected prosecutors, assistant prosecutors and related support personnel throughout the state. It is the largest state prosecutor’s organization of its kind in the United States and is the fifth largest provider of continuing legal education to lawyers in the State of Texas. Besides meeting the training and legal needs of Texas prosecutors and their staffs, TDCAA acts as a point-ofcontact and clearinghouse for communications to prosecutors and discussions with prosecutors by other governmental agencies, criminal justice entities, and the Texas Legislature. TDCAA also maintains an active publication venture distributing over 164,000 books pertaining to criminal law and justice topics in the last five years alone.
By virtue of his appointment to the TDCAA Board of Directors, Hon will also serve on the Board of Trustees of the Texas District and County Attorney’s Foundation (TDCAF), a nonprofit corporation created in 2006 to support the training mission of TDCAA. Hon also presently serves on the TDCAA Legislative Committee.
