Police subdue student threatening teacher with scissors

LIVINGSTON — Police were called to Livingston Independent School District’s Alternative Campus when a student threatened a teacher with a pair of scissors at 11:12 a.m. Thursday. Offi cer Marty Drake was able to subdue the student. She was taken before County Court at Law Judge Stephen Phillips and ordered to be detained in a juvenile facility for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
The day prior to the AEP campus incident, Livingston police went to the 800 block of Pine Street to execute a felony arrest warrant for Michael Montgomery, 23, of Livingston. When offi cers arrived at the residence to execute the warrant they found 23.5 grams of crack cocaine and a usable amount of marijuana in plain sight. Additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana were fi led. Offi cers stopped J.D. Schmidt, 21, of Livingston during the investigation of a burglary of a motor vehicle at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday. During an inventory of the vehicle, offi cers found hydrocodone in his possession and he was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance. He also faces state jail felony charges for the burglary of a motor vehicle in connection with an incident at Liberty and Maple Street. On Tuesday, Lynda Darnell Ragusa, 48, of Coldspring was stopped by offi cers for suspicion of driving while intoxicated in the 300 block of Pan American Drive. She was arrested and during the offi cer’s inventory of the vehicle she was driving a usable quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found, resulting in additional charges.
LPD arrested Christopher Cornelius Rains, 21, of Livingston for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at 4:45 p.m. April 20. Offi cers had been dispatched to the 1400 block of South Washington on a disturbance call and while en route observed the suspect leaving the residence. He was charged for physically assaulting the complainant and pulling a pistol and threatening to shoot the victim. On April 19, Scott Anthony Comeaux, 37 of Goodrich was charged with possession of a controlled substance after offi cer offi - cers stopped him for running four stop signs. Offi cers observed him involved in a suspicious transaction at 7:43 p.m. but couldn’t defi nitely determine what occurred in the transaction so they followed the suspect. When he was stopped in the 1500 block of East Church they found one rock of crack cocaine.
