Constable makes drug arrests in Apple Springs
Groveton News - March 2009

APPLE SPRINGS–On March 5, 2009 around 11:00 pm Trinity County Precinct 4 Constable Kent Blanchard stopped a vehicle on FM 2501 near the Apple Springs school for a traffic violation.  The stop led to the discovery of chemicals and components used in the manufacture of meth-amphetamine resulting in five arrests.
Constable Blanchard said that on the evening of March 5 his office and the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department were working on a drug interdiction operation in the Apple Springs area. Blanchard said that part of the operation allows for additional officers to be able to respond quickly to traffic stops in order to assist the officer making the stop.  This makes it safer for the law enforcement officers involved.
The vehicle stopped was a Jeep Cherokee driven by Jeremy Brister, a 28-year-old white male of Apple Springs.  Brister and the four other occupants of the vehicle, Angela Lambert, Gare Havard, Amber Nicole Welch, and Gary Justin Kelly all exhibited suspicious behavior. Due to their behavior and the large number of occupants, Blanchard called for assistance from nearby Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit operated by Deputy Mark Moscinski.  Moscinski and Pct 4 Deputy Constable David Ford for working in the area and were able to arrive at the scene quickly.
