Centerville’s high school and junior high track teams competed in the Groveton Track Meet this past Thursday and Friday. The meet was a very competitive meet, with schools attending from all around East Texas. Centerville’s high school girl’s team consisted of Payton Young and Sandi Pigg. Payton competed in long jump, high jump, 100m hurdles and 100m dash. Payton improved her times in both running events, and jumped her longest in long jump-12’11”. Sandi competed in long jump, 100m hurdles and the 100m dash. Michael Attaway and Jesse Scogin represented Centerville’s high school boys. Michael competed in 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and 100m dash. Michael’s time for 110m hurdles was 21.06, which is a 2 second improve-ment. Jesse competed in Pole Vault and the 100m dash. Centerville’s junior high girl’s team was represented by Ashton Mott. She competed in the 100m hurdles, 400m dash, and the 300m hurdles. She placed 2nd overall in the100m hurdles, with a time of 18.34. The members of the junior high boy’s team were Trevor Thorne, Marcus Welker, Evgeniy Ford, and Coy Westbrook. Trevor placed 2nd in the 2400m run with a time of 8.51, competed in the 800m dash with a time of 2.41, and ran the 100m dash. Marcus placed 1st in the 2400m run with a time of 8.49, 1st in the 800m dash with a time of 2.23 and competed in the 200m dash. Evgeniy placed 5th in the 2400m run with a time of 9.15 and competed in the 800m dash with a time of 3.18. Coy Westbrook competed in shotput, long jump and the 100m dash. The boys and girls started off track season very well, and we are looking forward to the meets ahead. Our goal for this week is to improve on times and jumps. Centerville’s track teams will be competing in the Lovelady track meet this week, high school on Thursday March 11th , and junior high on Friday March 12th
