Trinity County Fair & Youth Livestock Show kicks off
GROVETON – Thursday of this week is the beginning of the end of hard work by Trinity County students that are participating with projects in the Trinity County Fair and Youth Livestock Show at the “Y” near Groveton. The students have been preparing their show projects for the past several months just for this event. Thursday, March 18th at 4 p.m. steers must be in arena and from 4 to 5 p.m. the steers will be weighed and sifted. Friday, March 19th begins a full day for the students of 4-H and FFA classes from Centerville, Groveton, Apple Springs and Trinity. Check in time for all other market animals, shop projects and H.E. projects will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. At 1 p.m. the Fryer competition will be held. At 3 p.m. competition for the best pen of broilers will take place. At 4 p.m. students will show their goats in the goat competition. The swine competition begins a 6 p.m. Saturday, March 20th is another full day for the students beginning at 7 a.m. with the Commercial Heifer competition. The Lamb competition follows at 10 a.m. with the students hoping to pick up a champion-ship trophy. The Steer competition, which everyone has been waiting on, will begin at 11 a.m. The judges will pick the one they think passed all the tests to be the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. An enjoyable and entertaining part of the Show begins at 12:30 p.m. with the Pet Show. Youngsters from over the county will bring their pet to be judged and to show the audience. Following the Pet Show, an awards presentation to the students will be held for the achievements they accomplished with their projects. Always a large crowd is drawn to the last phase of the show, which is the Premium Market Auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. Plan now to attend the Trinity County Fair and Livestock Show and boost the youth of the county.
