GHS Board shown Excellence Plaque presented to school Annual Department |

The first order of business at Monday, October 19, Groveton ISD Board meeting was to hear from High School Journalism advisor Laura Rosser concerning the current annual. She showed a plaque that the annual department had received for their excellence in producing the present annual. She explained that one of the “first” for this annual was the original artwork on the cover. Each board member was presented an annual.
Brad Laughlin with Ground Force Building Systems was in attendance to make a presentation concerning the proposed classroom and expansion of the cafeteria at the elementary building. His company builds the proposed construction to the specifi-cations needed by the purchaser and then moves it on site. However, it is on a concrete slab. This construction is designed to be permanent but can be moved if necessary.
The First Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) has again rated the GISD system as superior in their use of the funds available and maintaining all records etc. School employees will again receive the performance stipend. The Language Proficiency Assessment committee reported that there were ten non-English proficient students at the elementary campus and two at the junior/senior high campus. Special help is being provided these students.
There were three bids submitted for the animal shelter and pens for the agriculture department. Wayne Arnold was the low bidder on these. |
