Indian track athletes are State-bound

Groveton High School is proud to have several track and field athletes participating in this week's UIL State Track and Field meet in Austin. The athletes from GHS who qualified to compete are: Britt Bergman, who is the number 9 seed in the girls' 3200-meter run in Class 2A competition. Her qualifying time was 13:20.24. Dawson Chumley is the top seed in his class for the boys' high jump with a height of 6-8. He is also the number 2 seed in the boys' long jump with a jump measured at 22-2.75. Chumley is the number 8 seed in the boys' 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.92. A boys' 4x100-meter relay team of Eli Stewart, Chance Coker, Kaylon Horace, and Glenn Thornton is the number 3 seed with a time of 43.26. The team also qualified for the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:30.32. The State Track events begin on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus. The events for 2A participants begin on Friday at 8 a.m. with the 3200-meter relay event.
