4-H Shooting Sports teams participate in State competition

 

Trinity County 4-H Shooting Sports Rifle Senior Teams 1 &2 participated in the State 4 H Indoor Rifle Competition on June 3, 2017 held in Victoria, Texas. This competition brings our season to an end. Below is a recap on our year and information on how to join 4-H Shooting sports next year. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the program this year. We started this year out with 46 participates. To break it down: 20 Juniors which is grades 3-5th (shooting all prone), 15 Intermediates which is grades 6th-8th (shooting 3 position), and 11 Seniors which is grades 9th-12th grade (shooting 3 position). This year we had 7 certified coaches: David Bullard, Mark Luce, Ricky and Tricia Hortman, Jarrod and Jolena Brown, and James Pickle. A special "Thank You" to Amanda Hogg and Jessica Rogers for taking care of some grant work. If anyone is interested in joining Trinity County 4-H Shooting Sports in the future here are the steps: 1. You must be a member of 4-H and if you join 4-H between August 15th and October 31, 2017 the fee is $20.00. If you join after October, 2017 the fee is $25.00. 2. You will need to come to Shooting Sports orientation which is usually held at a date to be announced in January 2018. The fee for shooting sports is $40.00 which covers the cost of bullets and targets. The club has everything your child needs to participate except for eye protection. 3. Show up to practice, which is held at a predetermined time for your child on Sundays, and have safe fun, 4. On April 29, 2017 Trinity County held the District 5 Shooting Sports Rifle Competition in Groveton at the Trinity County Fair Barn located at the "Y". We had 4 senior teams from the following Counties: Trinity 2 teams, Angelina 1 team and Panola 1 team along with 1 individual shooter from Angelina County, 1 Individual Shooter from Panola, and 1 individual shooter from Cherokee. Senior teams and/or Senior individuals are the only ones that are allowed to advance to the State competition. Trinity County Senior teams: Team 1: Tanner Ebarb, Hannah Dial, and Kaylee Mc- Clintock Team 2: Lydia Rogers, Hunter Thompson, Morgan Robertson and Clay Carr We had 4 intermediate teams from the following counties: Trinity County 1 team and Angelina County 3 teams. Cherokee County had 2 intermediate individuals, Henderson County had 1 individual and Panola County had 2 individual participate. Trinity County Intermediate team: Colton Shank, Cade Dixon, Dustin Brown, and Kayla Pickle There were 2 junior teams which consisted of Trinity County 1 team and Angelina County 1 team plus 2 individuals from Cherokee and 1 individual from Panola County. Trinity County Junior Team: Kayla Kembro, Megan Luce, Cole Hortman and Kade Gomez All of our kids did an outstanding job at District. We hope to see you all again next year.
