New Administrator at Groveton Nursing Home
The board of Groveton Nursing Home approved the hiring of Walter Scott of Nacogdoches as the adminis-trator. This was done in the regular monthly meeting on February 12.
Scott comes highly qualified. He has a management degree and several years of experience. His field of expertise appears to be assisting nursing homes with problems to get them corrected.
Scott is married and has two children. A daughter teaches school in Dallas and his son plays for a minor league baseball team in Houston. He currently holds a position on the board of Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.
In other actions, the board was asked to discuss a type of scale that would make it easier to weight the residents. They decided to wait and consult Mr. Scott about such items.
A volunteer organization was discussed. A regular meeting an organized manner to enable the group to know what the nursing home needed was the purpose of this discussion. The group that volunteers now are dedicated but do only certain things.
Mr. Scott began work on Tuesday, February 13 and in later discussions with the board mentioned several improve-ments that he felt were needed. Beautification is a priority beginning with the entry way. The Callahan family has already committed to get the laundry room shaped up. While Mr. Scott and the staff work on getting all the state issues resolved etc. the board hopes to coordinate some ideas and fundraisers to help with general physical appearance and needed equipment etc. The board is dedicated to making the Groveton Nursing home a nicer home for the residents. Any group or individual interested can contact a board member or Mrs. Scott. Board members are Margie Wheeler, Dorthea Ables, Charlie Stewart, Versie Callahan, Georgia McAnulty, Sherry Small and Oscar Williams.
