New illegal drug resembles candy
Groveton News - June 2007

Law Enforcement officials are receiving warnings that a new type of drug is being sold on the streets and are passing this information on to parents as a serious warning.  Drug dealers are selling colored crystal methamphetamine known as “strawberry quick.”  This is nothing more than an attempt to hook more kids on drugs.  Drug dealers are trying new tactics to attract new customers, by making meth seem less dangerous, they are targeting our kids!  The colored meth looks similar to rock candy and this is an attempt to attract children of all ages.
While we have not had any reports of this new drug in Trinity County, there has been intelligence gathered by DEA agents stating that Texas is among the states that this new form of methamphetamine is appearing.  Strawberry quick reportedly smells and taste like strawberry candy and just a dangerous as any other meth.
Methamphetamine itself is not new to Trinity County and is commonly known on the street as: Meth, poor man's cocaine, crystal meth, ice, glass, and speed.  So please advise your children and their friends not to accept any candy from strangers.  Be aware of any candy that is not store bought in it original unsealed packaging.
