1st Annual Davy Crockett Bear Chase Marathon/Cookoff and Booths on the Square in Groveton, TX

L'il Critter Possum Walk
   What's more fun than a barrel of monkeys?  Kids of all ages, some with parents or grandparents participating in the one-mile walk/run version of the 1st Annual Davy Crockett Bear Chase Marathon.  This mini-race begins at 7:30 am on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Groveton High School stadium.  Those who finish get a medal, and all who sign up get the special t-shirt and goodie bag.  Plenty of parking for part-icipants and onlookers, too.

   The “Bear Chase” as this series of events is called, includes full, half marathons, and relay marathon at 7 a.m., the “L'il Critter Possum Walk” at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K run at 8:00 a.m.  Although you can register up until 30 minutes before your race, reserve your t-shirt size by Friday. 
   There will be a bar-b-que cook-off in front of the courthouse at Groveton which faces the square with many interesting booths.  There will be free ice cream from Dreyers, cook-off sampling and other food and drink vendors, informational booths and other vendors.
