It was February 20, 2007 that we received the first E-mail suggesting the possibility for a marathon race to fund the Trinity County Chamber of Commerce.  The site chosen was in the Davy Crockett National Forest.    We were introduced by Cindy Jones of Pro-Star Waste to Steve Boone, a marathoner and a promoter and director of many marathons, thus it became a reality.
   The more we thought about a marathon at our back door and Steve and Cindy in the mix we knew it could be done and done in Trinity County.  Then the work began.
   We obtained sponsorships from Entergy Corp.; Citizens State Bank, B & B Grocery; Commerce Bank; Stevenson Distributor; Holliman Distributors; Trinity Radio Shack; Crockett Insurance; McClain Hardware; Sentek Environment; Joe Ned Dean; Dryer Ice Cream; Pro Star Waste; Eddie Pepper; Thomas Properties; Groveton Family Clinic; and KBHT Radio Crockett.
   Support also provided by Trinity County Commissioners Court; City of Groveton; Groveton ISD; TxDOT; the Groveton News; Trinity Standard; and Keep Trinity County Beautiful.
    Many individuals, too many to mention, began meetings; made plans and made them work for fourteen months, they met and hammered out a plan.  A cook-off and crafts and Food on the Square; all working to make this a big city event in a small town that will be celebrated this Friday and Saturday, April 11th and 12th.
