“Ellie May” visits Groveton

     “Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed…..” were the words Benny McClain and Alton Mericle heard last Friday afternoon when Donna Douglas (Ellie May Clampett) came to McClain’s Hardware and the Groveton ISD Elementary school for a short visit. She was accompanied by Frank Green, a friend of Jamie and Melissa Kemper.
     Though her visit was short she shared stories about her experiences on “The Beverly Hillbillies” with Alysse and Weston Cavness and Brandon Kemper. Shirley Kemper and Norma Rasbeary enjoyed the stories as much as the kids! The highlight of the visit was when she sang the theme song from “The Beverly Hillbillies” and closed with her famous whistle, which was as strong as ever!
