Big Thicket Messenger - October 2008
In an effort to help area small businesses find lower group health insurance without sacrificing benefits, the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Texas Coalitions, Inc. of Austin, will launch its Small Business Health Coalition Program at BJ Ford, Highway 90, in Liberty, on Monday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m.
Ron Mullen, Texas Coalitions, Inc. will be in attendance to answer questions regarding the program. Snacks will be provided.

House Bill 897, approved in the 78th regular Texas legislative session, authorizes small businesses with 2 to 50 employees to join together to form a “coalition group”, hence giving the larger group more bargaining power for insurance than any one business alone. Participation in a Small Employer Health Coalition may reduce the cost for small group health insurance by 16% to more than 55% depending on the plan selected. Employees can select from 3 plans that allow each employee to chose the plan that best fits their situation.
This event was re-scheduled due to Hurricane Ike. Chamber members receive a better discount, however everyone is invited to attend.
