Man perishes in fire
Big Thicket Messenger - March 2007

A Cleveland man was found in his travel trailer early Thursday morning, March 8, after his home was burned.

According to Captain Chip Fairchild, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a structure fire in the Tarkington Prairie area at approximately 1:10 a.m. on March 8.

The Tarkington Fire Department responded to the call, along with Liberty County Sheriff’s Department deputies. Fairchild stated the fires were extinguished and it was determined that there was a deceased victim in the burned structure.

The man is believed to be that of Buryl Houston Head of Cleveland. Judge Burl Thomas conducted the inquest and an autopsy was ordered. Head is a relative of American Idol contestant Sundance Head, who was booted on Thursday, March 8.

Investigation into the fire and death of Head continues by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office investigators.
