Old & Vintage Jewelry Seminar
Big Thicket Messenger - March 2007
The Beaumont Heritage Society presents Virginia Pierson, a specialist in old and vintage jewelry, answering questions about family heirlooms. Are they rhinestones or diamonds? What are the values of great, great, great grandmother’s necklace or treasured ring? Ms. Pierson will instruct you on the method of obtaining an appraisal as well as identifying the age of jewelry pieces and their historical significance.
You are invited to bring up to 2 pieces to be discussed during the seminar, scheduled for Thursday, March 22, beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Virginia Pierson, a resident of College Station, was a teacher and school administrator for more than 20 years, all the while maintaining her passion for jewelry through gemology classes and national jewelry seminars. Buying and selling jewelry now at “significant” antique shows throughout Texas and Louisiana has spurred her interest to travel to Europe in search of old and vintage jewelry, particularly from the years 1830 to 1940.
Fee for the Seminar is $7.00 for BHS members, $10.00 for non-members. The 2 sessions will be conducted at Heritage Hall on the grounds of the John Jay French Historic House Museum. Pre-registration is requested by calling the Beaumont Heritage Society at (409) 898-0348 or mail to: Beaumont Heritage Society, 3025 French Road, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
