The Women, Infants and Children's Program (WIC) in Liberty County, located at Rainbow Baptist Church, corner of Highway 146 and 787, serves pregnant women, women who have just had a baby, women that breast feed and infants and children up to the age of 5 years.
The program provides nutrition and breast feeding education, referrals for health care, and immunizations. WIC also provides vouchers for free foods, which can be used in the supermarket to buy infant formula, milk, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, cereal, beans, tuna, etc. to those who qualify.
In order to receive WIC benefits, you must be within the income guidelines and have a nutritional need. A family of four can make up to $2,722 a month.
The Rye WIC Clinic is a service of the Cleveland WIC Clinic and is at Rainbow Baptist Church the second Wednesday of every month, with the next available date of June 14, 2007. The hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
