Big Thicket Messenger - August 2007
The 18th Annual Burnham Classic Golf Tournament will be held August 3, 4 and 5 at Magnolia Ridge Country Club. The event is sponsored by the Burnham family and BJ Ford/Mercury.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Tri-County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services, formerly known as the South Liberty County State Center. Tri-County MHMR provides programs for children and teens with mental retardation enabling them to live with their families as they grow up and to live in the community of their choice when they become adults. Tri-County also provides assistance in identifying and finding needed services, respite for caregivers, residential options, training and support in the family home or at the Life Skills program and help in finding and keeping a job for those who are able to work.
The tournament is limited to the first 80 teams and is flighted by the lowest handicap on the team. The entry fee, which includes a cart, is $450 per team. This entitles two players and their spouses to all functions. Lady golfers are welcome, but high school players will not be permitted. Pros will be welcomed in the championship flight.
