Fall Harvest Festival to be held

The Beaumont Heritage Society is offering a Fall Harvest Family Fun Day, on the grounds of the John J. French Museum, located at 3025 French Road, Beaumont on Sunday, October 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Schedule of events include: Costume contest – 1:30-2:30 p.m.; Watermelon seed spitting contest – 2:30-3:00 p.m.; bobbing for apples – 3:00-3:30 p.m.; Scarecrow building contest – 3:45-5:00 p.m. (pre-register by October 22); and crafts and games, ages 3-adult, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Jaynen Cockrell of Texas A&M Agriculture/Research/Extension Center will share her knowledge about the rice harvest from 1:00-1:30 p.m.
Sandra Henson of the Jefferson County Extension office will share helpful hints for canning/preserving fruits & vegetables from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m.
The Fall Bake Off (pre-register by October 25th) – appetizers, entrees, side dishes or desserts. At least ONE of the following ingredients must be used: Squash (including pumpkin), snap beans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers, greens, peppers, spinach, tomatoes, pecans or rice. Electricity outlets will be provided when necessary for hot foods.
Prizes will be awarded for all contests.
