Dayton’s Hometown Holiday
Big Thicket Messenger - December 2007
The Dayton Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the date for the annual Hometown Holiday Celebration. Please mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 4, at 5:00 p.m.
The 48-foot giant Christmas tree will be next to Dayton City Hall on Cook Street. The tree will be surrounded by personalized candy canes, made of heavy plywood, painted white with red stripes and sporting a large white bow that can be personalized with a name or business for $25.00.
There will be games for the children with prizes, live entertainment throughout the night, food, carriage rides to view the lighted houses, and of course, Santa Claus and his helpers to take your Christmas list. A photo with Santa will be available if you choose for $5.00 a photo.
There will be a cookie contest with categories for all ages to be judged. The winners will be announced from the stage and prizes will be awarded. Contest rules and sign up sheets can be picked up at the Chamber office, located at 212 Bryan Street, and they will be sent home with every Dayton ISD student.
Make plans to join the Dayton Chamber of Commerce as they strive to make this the best year ever. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy visiting with family, friends and neighbors as you watch the Fireworks Extravaganza at approximately 7:00 p.m.
This is a free event but they do ask that you bring non-perishable food items as a donation. Free cookies and hot chocolate will be served throughout the night.
Please call the Dayton Chamber of Commerce at (936) 257-2393 for more information concerning the candy canes, the Santa photos or the cookie contest.
Please not: in case of rain the festivities will be held on Wednesday, December 5th, with the same schedule.
