UIL reclassification

The Dayton Broncos and the Livingston Lions were the only Big Thicket Area teams to be changed into a different classification on Friday.
UIL realignment will have the Lions traveling to the Golden Triangle as part of District 20AAAA next season. The Broncos will join the 19AAAA ranks and will face two new teams and several old foes.
The new realignment for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 was announced Friday, February 1. Schools that wish to challenge the district realignment changes may do so by contacting the district to which they have been assigned and the district to which they wish to join to ask for a vote.

UIL Region III
Class AAAA
District 19-AAAA schools include Baytown Goose Creek Memorial, Crosby, Dayton, Galena Park, Houston Forest Brook, Sheldon C.E. King, Houston Smiley, Humble Kingwood Park and Barbers Hill.
District 20-AAAA schools include Beaumont Central, Beaumont Ozen, Livingston, Lumberton, Nederland, Orange Little Cypress, Port Neches Groves and Vidor.
Conference AAA
District 22-AAA schools are Cleveland, Tarkington, Coldspring Oakhurst, Huffman Hargraves, Liberty, Shepherd and Splendora.

Conference AA
 District 23-AA schools will include Anahuac, Buna, Deweyville, Hardin, Kountze, Warren and Winnie East Chambers.

Conference 1A
11-Man Football
District 23-A schools will include Burkeville, Chester, Colmesneil, Evadale, High Island, Hull-Daisetta, Sabine Pass and Saratoga West Hardin.

Schools may play their first game no earlier than August 28. First playing dates for the 2008-2009 season are August 28, 29 and 30. For the 2009-2010 season are August 29-30-31. Schools are limited to no more than 10 games.
