Brotherhood Banquet

Big Thicket Messenger - February 2008

The Men’s Bible Class of the First United Methodist Church, Liberty, is privileged to host the 82nd Annual Brotherhood Banquet. The Banquet will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 21, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

This will be the 82nd consecutive year that men of all religious faiths of this community have assembled for the Brotherhood Banquet, presented by the Men’s Bible Class of the First United Methodist Church, Liberty.

For the 82nd consecutive year, hundreds of men will gather in the spirit of brotherhood while enjoying a delicious meal, entertainment and keynote speaker.

The first banquet menu in 1927 featured roast duck, collard greens, cornbread and syrup. Since that time, the standard fare has been turkey and dressing and all the trimmings.

Banquet speakers have featured men of all faiths who have represented almost every major profession, vocation and political persuasion.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Mr. Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale.

Tickets for the 82nd Brotherhood Banquet are $8.00 each and are available from members of the Men’s Bible Class of the First United Methodist Church, Liberty. Tickets are also available at the church office by calling (936) 336-6401.
