Bonnie Jean Rawls Smith
CORRIGAN -- Bonnie Jean Rawls Smith, of Corrigan and Houston, passed away on Friday morning, March 12, 2010 at Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin, TX, due to a lengthy illness. A candlelight vigil will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at 407 MLK St., Corrigan at 7:30 p.m.. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Mayo Chapel M.B.C. 308 Southwest St., Corrigan at 1:00 p.m.

Blanche Cloud
CORRIGAN -- Funeral services for Blanche Cloud, 95, of Corrigan were held at on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the First Baptist Church in Corrigan with Bro. Ralph Johnston officiating. Interment followed in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas. Mrs. Cloud was born November 28, 1914 in Benford, Polk County, Texas and passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 in Lufkin, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Corrigan, Texas and was a homemaker all her life. She was preceded in death by husband, Emery Earl Cloud; parents, Otto Louis Fredireck and Sarah Ella (Carter) Schoeneman; brothers, Ernest Schoeneman, Faye Schoeneman and George Schoeneman; sisters, Lorane Cockrell and Pearl Knox. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward Earl and Barbara Cloud of Huffman, Texas; grandson, Marc Cloud of Humble, Texas and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were George Schoeneman, Jerry Cockrell, Jakie Sherman, John Schoeneman, and Scott Sherman. Corrigan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Lynn Gordon
CORRIGAN -- Graveside services for Jerry Lynn Gordon, 46, of Beaumont, were held on Friday, March 12, 2010 in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery in Diboll with Hiro Nishi officiating. Mr. Gordon was born July 20, 1963 in Harris County, Texas and passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a member of New Life Tabernacle in Beaumont, Texas and was a carpenter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Ford and Lorane (Bearden) Gordon. He is survived by his brothers, Richard Gordon of San Antonio, Texas, Oscar Gordon of Kyle, Texas, and Jimmy Gordon of California; sisters, Nancy Sweeney of Beaumont, Texas, Linda Gillory of Lumberton, Texas, Donna Ruth Hughes of Vidor, Texas and Suzanna Oliver of Vidor, Texas and numerous other relatives and friends. Corrigan Funeral Hone were in charge of the arrangements.

Maria Teresa Martinez
LUFKIN – Maria Teresa Martinez, 63, of Lufkin was born Feb. 18, 1947, in Piedras Negras, Mexico and died March 15, 2010 in a local hospital. Mrs. Martinez was known as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Benjamin of Lufkin; son and wife, Benjamin Jr. and Angelett Martinez of Moscow; son, Enrique Martinez of Katy; daughter and husband, Herlinda and Paul Woods of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Elizabeth and Keith Brigance of Katy; daughter and fiancé, Aniseta Martinez and Wilhelm Larsen, both of Houston; grandchildren, Angela Marie Martinez, Paul H. Woods Jr., Ashley A. Martinez, Romero C. Woods, Aryana D. Martinez, Benjamin Martinez III, Alexander E. Martinez, JaMarius A. Woods, Daniel R. Martinez, Zal’Leya Y. Woods, Kayla S. Brigance, Jorden W. Martinez and Karyssa Teresa Brigance; great-grandson, Adrian A. Martinez; brothers, Ernesto Hernandez, Fidencio Hernandez, Fernando Hernandez and Jose Luis Hernandez and sisters, Juanita Ortiz, Angela Hernandez and Concepcion Herrera. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Martinez Sr., Benjamin Martinez Jr., Enrique Martinez, Paul Woods Jr., Benjamin Martinez III and Romero Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernesto Hernandez, Fidencio Hernandez, Fernando Hernandez and Jose Luis Hernandez. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at Iglesia Bautista De La Fe, 5293 Highway 59 South in Lufkin, with interment following in Garden of Memories Park. Friends are invited to visit with family from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.mem.com. Gipson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dora Ricklefsen Vance
CORRIGAN -- Funeral services for Dora Ricklefsen Vance, 74, of the Beulah Community, in Angelina County, were held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in the First Baptist Church in Corrigan with Mike Wall officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery in the Barnum Community in Polk County. Mrs. Vance was born October 1, 1935 in Crosby and passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at her residence. She was a member of the Cowboy City Church in Humble and was a loving wife and mother. She is preceded in death by son, David Wayne Vance; parents, Alfred and Alice Ricklefsen; brothers, Clifford Ricklefsen and Alfred Ricklefsen Jr.; sisters, Gladys Obrian and Bertha Kosina Garsee. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ben H. Vance Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Bit and Ruthie Vance; grandchildren, David Wayne Vance II and Shae Richardson and husband Ross; great grandchildren, Jocelyn Kate Vance, Justin Conner Vance, Cheyenne Elizabeth Vance and Kutter Cash Richardson; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Pearl Ricklefsen; sister-in-law, Cynthia Ricklefsen and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbears were Greg Ashabranner, Troy Buchanan, Lewie Lake, Joe Renfro, David Vance and Bucky Vance.


Hickey Eugene “T. C.” Capps
LUFKIN -- Funeral services for Hickey Eugene “T.C.” Capps, 63, of Diboll, were held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Vic Bass officiating. Interment followed in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Mr. Capps was born November 10, 1946, in Jacksonville, to the late Wilma Ophelia (Russell) and Hickey Capps. He died Saturday, February 27, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital. Mr. Capps was retired from Temple Associates and had resided in Diboll most of his life. He was a member of Faith Family Church. Mr. Capps enjoyed racing cars, hunting, and being with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Phyllis Capps of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law, Randall Eugene and Lauren Capps of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Nikki Kyle and Matt Hughes of Corrigan; grandchildren, Tristan Emmons of Lufkin, and Taylor Renee Handley of Corrigan; brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Sandra Capps of Lufkin; brother- in-law and sisters-in-law, Art and Renne Arnold of Diboll, Ruth Loftin of Huntington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mr. Capps was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Kyle Arnold. Pallbearers were Russell Julian, Brett McGaughey, Shawn Mc- Gaughey, Donald Coulter, Matt Hughes, Ronnie Hutchison, Rodney Willis and Robert Lynn Capps. Honorary pallbearers were Sam Coleman, Garland Thompson, Nathaniel Thompson, Bill “Fuzzy” Neal, Luther Reed, Melvin Thompson, Sr., Kirk Johnson, William Bubba Thompson, Melvin Ray Thompson, Jr., and Art Arnold. J.B. Vinson
CORRIGAN -- Funeral Services for J. B. Vinson, 84, of Corrigan, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan with Norman Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in the Barnum Community in Polk County. Mr. Vinson was born October 14, 1925 in the Pickney Community in Polk County, Texas and passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at his residence in Corrigan, Texas. He was a member of Pine Grove Church of Christ in the Barnum Community, and was a saw filer for Champion Plywood. He proudly served his country in WWII in the armed forces of the United States. \ He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Pate) Vinson; parents, William Turner Vinson and Bertha Tolitha (McKee) Vinson and brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Rachael and Tom Rice of the Ollie Community and brother-in-law and wife, Donald adn Sandra Pate of Cleveland and four generations of nieces and nephews too numerous to list and many friends.
