Gordon Norman Hext
Gordon Norman Hext, 75, of Woodville, passed away, Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 16th at 2:00 p.m. at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville. Officiating was Keith Bellamy. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Zachary Sumners, David Dillon, Alto Nauret, Dallas Hext, Troy Reider and John Ashworth.
Visitation was held from 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16th until service time.
Gordon was born August 7, 1932 to W.A. & Lillie Miller Hext in Harlingen, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Woodville. He was a 1954 graduate from Sam Houston State University and and was retired pipeline inspector from the petroleum industry . He owned and operated his own lawn care business and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Woodville Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Ruby Hext of Woodville; daughter & son-in-law, Tina & David Dillon of Lumberton; brother & sister-in-law, Dallas & Helen Hext of Newton; and grandson, Zachary Sumners of Austin.

Bonnie F. Kirkland, 81, of Vidor died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at her residence. A native of Canton, TX., she has lived in Vidor since 1954, and was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Vidor. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial services to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Camp Ground Cemetery in Woodville, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Edgar Lee Kirkland, Sr., sons Garland Wayne Kirkland, and Edgar Lee Kirkland, Jr., parents Samuel and Willie Jordan, one brother, and four sisters. She is survived by her sons Gregory Lynn Kirkland and wife Joyce of Arvada, CO., and Gary Ray Kirkland and his wife Michelle of Vidor, daughters Onita Gail Newell and her husband Michael of Coalinga, CA., and Glenda Suzanne Breaux and her husband Mark of Vidor, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Beverly Allen Etheridge
Beverly Allen Etheridge, 56, of Florence, Colorado, formerly of Zavalla, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
A native of Doucette and a longtime resident of Liberty, she had worked for several years as a CAN for a Veterans Home in Florence, and enjoyed craftwork, flower arranging, and adored her grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. Burial followed at Jasper City Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday, April 11 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Forest Oaks.
Survivors include her mother, Vernell Davis of Zavalla; her daughters, Heather Wilkerson of Taos, NM, Barbara Etheridge of Highlands, and Elizabeth Hall of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Gilbert Allen of Pollok and Ronnie Allen of Zavalla; sister, Lisa Bryan of Zavalla; her auntie, Dorothy DuBose of Zavalla; along with 7 grandchildren and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
