Arlene Callahan
Arlene Rose Winston Callahan,
59, ofWoodville, TX, died in a single-car accident Saturday, March 21, 2009.
Arlene was born April 24, 1949 in Eutaw, AL to William Albert Callahan
I and Anna Winston Callahan Norwood. Both her parents preceded her in death. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a life long resident of Jasper County, TX.
She leaves a life of memories to her four daughters, Michelle Littleton & Colleen Townsend from Leesville, LA; Alicia Callahan
and Jamie Lindweaver from Woodville, TX; her two sons. Lee Drummond and Dennis
Drummond of Alabama; and close friend Danielle Sanders of Lumberton, TX. Her siblings left to cherish her are Mary Constantine
of Winnie, TX; Connie Peveto of Bridge City, TX; Cathy Blackman of Vidor, TX; Chriss Semingson of Cave Creek, AZ; and Bill Callahan of Beaumont, TX. The grandchildren left to hear the many stories of her life are Jessica, Jacob, Josh, Brittany, Timothy, Jaylen Rose, Chance, Daisy, William, Olivia Rose, and Shelby; and her beloved pets Cheyenne and Schatci will miss her very much.
While she is joining her beloved granddaughter, Christian Robyn, she was dearly loved and will be forever missed by all.
A memorial gathering was held at her home in Woodville, TX on Wednesday, March 25, 2009.

Corrie Belt
Corrie Lee Belt, 89, of Navasota formerly of Colmesneil passed away peacefully unto the Lord on March 26, 2009. Born November 21, 1919 to Richard Stewart and Corrie McAlister Stewart, she lived in Colmesneil for many years before moving to Navasota. She was married to Rex Ira Belt for 42 years until his death in 1978. She was a member of the Colmesneil Rebekah Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Colmesneil and later became a member of the Midway Church in Livingston. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marzie and Carroll Smith of Lake Limestone, Bili Bryan Shepherd of Katy, Charlotte and Ronnie Hale of Navasota. She was lovingly called Memommie or Maw by her four grandchildren, Donna Walsh and husband, John of Allen, Tamera Crosby of Katy, Kevin Hale and wife, Laura of Burleson, Kheli LaBlue and husband, Kris of Navasota; six great grandchildren, Vince Walsh and wife, Autumn of Allen, Ben Walsh of Waco, Beth and Jacob Hale of Burleson, Gracie and Emily LaBlue of Navasota; sister, Syble Hubert of Silsbee and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members. A funeral service was held Sunday, March 29, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial followed at Colmesneil City Cemetery. Visitation was held Saturday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were Larry Crosby, Ben Walsh, Vince Walsh, John Walsh, Kris LaBlue, Kevin Hale, Ronnie Hale, Bryan Shepherd, Carroll Smith, and Eddie Hubert. S ervices were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Ernest Fortenberry
Ernest Maurice Fortenberry, 82, of Woodville passed away peacefully unto the Lord on March 27, 2009. B orn October 16, 1926 in Woodville to the late Mark and Cora Weeks Fortenberry, he lived in Woodville all of his life. He was a self employed contractor who was affectionately known as the “Dam-Man” throughout this area and a Navy Veteran. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, M. L. Fortenberry, Winfred Fortenberry, Floyd Fortenberry and a sister, Edith Shepherd. Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara Fortenberry; daughter and son-in-law, Colette and Carlton Cotten of Woodville; son, Todd Fortenberry of Woodville; grandchildren, Jake Cotten and fiancé, Andria Godrey of College Station, Evan Fortenberry of Huntsville and Katie Fortenberry of Woodville; sister, Creasy Jewel Hamilton of Orange; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. F uneral service was held Monday, March 30, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home with Dr. Raymond Parker officiating. Burial followed at Camp Ground Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were Lloyd Fortenberry, Paul Raybuck, Bugs Weeks, Clint Owen, Buddy Ogden, James Handley, Keith Fuller and Alva Cook. Serving as honorary pallbearers were B. C. Smith, Max Graham, James Nicoles, Richard Johnson, Lonnie Grissom, Jr., Lonnie Grissom, Sr., Buddy Wilkerson, Jerry Grimes, J. T. Grimes and Carol Conner. Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Rae Trammel
Rae Trammell, 80, of Chester, passed away, Friday, March 27, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Funeral services were held Monday, March 30th at 11:00 a.m. at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester. Officiating were Brother Mark Martin and Brother Morgan Wright. Serving as pallbearers were Dustin Woodrome, Wesley Woodrome, Dalton Woodrome, Richard Woodrome, Chad Brock and Trey Wilkerson. Visitation was held Sunday, March 29th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rae was born March 11, 1929 to James Alexander & Bertha Lee Alford Trammell in Buffalo, Alabama. He had been the valedictorian of his class in Buffalo. He was a longtime resident of Chester and was a self-employed salesman. He was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sibyl Trammell on May 9, 2008; brothers, James P. Trammell, John Trammell and Henry D. Trammell; and sisters, Elizabeth Faulkner and Sabrina Trammell. He is survived by his brother & sister-in-law, Doyle & Lynetta Trammell of Tyler; sister, Emily Buce of Albany, GA; brothers-in-laws, Don Woodrome & wife, Sadie of Chester and Burlon Wilkerson & wife, Jan of Diboll; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Sibyl Woodrome Trammell Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 28, Chester, Texas 75936. Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville

Richard Collup
Richard “Rick” Donald Collup, Sr., 77, of Wildwood, passed away, Friday, March 27, 2009 at his residence in Wildwood. Richard was born October 29, 1931 to Hayes & Florence Collup in Cicero, Illinois. He was a self-employed plastering contractor. He is survived by his wife, Muriel Collup of Wildwood; son & daughter-in-law, Richard, Jr. & Brenda Collup of Selegman, AZ; daughters & sons-in-law, Karen & Jim Norwood of Wildwood, Melinda & Mitch Pautz of La Pine, Oregon and Lisa & Brian Grenier of Nancy Lake, Alaska; brother & sister-in-law, Johnny & Valerie Collup of Fordland, Missouri; cousins, Mike & Darlene Ellis of Wildwood; ten grandchildren, Brandon Norwood & wife, Courtney, Sommer Linscomb & husband, Clint all of Wildwood, Eric Wright of La Pine, Oregon, Kristine Austin & Bean Collup all of Selegman, Arizona, Elan, Abigail & Kenna Grenier all of Nancy Lake, Alaska; four great-grandchildren, Caileb & Saige Linscomb and Ethan & Lauren Norwood. Richard adored his wife, loved his grandchildren and his seven great grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing, was an avid coin collector, a Mason, working puzzles, playing cards and loved his dog, Stryker. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

R. L. Walston
R. L. Walston, 87, of Spurger, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Silsbee Convalescent Center in Silsbee. A native of Saratoga, R. L. lived in Spurger for forty-two years. He was a retired fabricator at Bethlehem Steel. He also served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by his children, Deidra Carson of Omaha, Nebraska, Jack Walston and wife Katrina of Spurger, Jodi Davenport and husband Kenny of Silsbee, Niki Scott and husband James and Shannon McDaniel and husband Wayne all of Lumberton, and Mike Holland and wife Tina of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. R. L. is preceded in death by his wife, Norma “Pete” Walston. Funeral service was at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee with burial at Oilfield Cemetery in Saratoga.
