Tyler County Booster- November 30, 2008 - December 7, 2008

Attle Allen Read
 Attle Allen Read, 74, of Woodville went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2008.
  Born November 9, 1934 in Emilee, Tx to G. Claborn and Ora Lee Peace Read, he lived in Tyler County most of his life.  He graduated from Warren High School in 1952 and served his country in the Air Force for over 21 years.  After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Bethlehem Steel and Champion International before retiring as an electrician.  He was a faithful member of the Woodville Church of Christ.
  Mr. Read was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harold Read and a son, Keith Read.
  He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Lee Hudson Read; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Lee and Cheryl Read of Warren, Bill and Cindy Read of Fort Worth; brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Margaret Read of Colmesneil; sisters, Vera Jordan of Spurger and Sarah Lee Cowart of Spurger; grandchildren, Christofer Read and wife, LeAnn of Fort Worth, Jennifer Read of Fort Worth, Destiny, Dezirae and Dakota Read all of Woodville and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
  Funeral service was held Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 11 a.m.. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Keith Bellamy and Brother Gene Greer officiating.  Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery.  Visitation was held Friday evening at the funeral home.
  Serving as pallbearers were Lindy Jordan, Roger Read, David Read, Tiny Read, Jamie Read, Roger Russell, Bernie Cummings and Duane Turner.
            Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Alonzo Benjamin Beever
 Alonzo Benjamin Beever, 89, of Houston passed away November 25, 2008 at his residence.
  Born August 14, 1919 in Baltimore, Maryland to William and Anna Harr Beever, he lived in Houston for many years.  He was retired from Exxon as a chief pumpman tanker and was a U. S. Coast Guard Veteran.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Dennis Knox and a granddaughter, Gayla Renee.
 He is survived by is daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Albert Underwood of Houston, Colleen Beever and Jeff Flanders of Moab, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Patsy Beever of Spencerville, OK; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 Cremation service was held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Courtney Baye Neal
 Courtney Baye Neal, 22, of Jasper went to be with Jesus on November 23, 2008.
 Born August 15, 1986 in Lake Charles, LA, she lived in DeQuincy most of her life and was a graduate of DeQuincy High School.  Courtney’s love of life was displayed through her love of music, deer hunting and playing softball.  She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
 Courtney is survived by her father, Lloyd Neal and her mother, Loretha Shirley Neal of Jasper; grandparents, Huey and Pauline Shirley of DeQuincy, LA; sister, Jessica Shirley of Japser; special friends, Amy Perrett of Jasper and R. C. Wright of Woodville; adopted uncle, Tim Bartol and a host of great aunts, aunts, uncles and cousins.
 Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Weaver officiating.  Burial followed at Carter Cemetery in Colmesneil, Tx.  
 Serving as pallbearers were Duane Shriley, Jacob Bertrand, Brad Streams, Scott Streams, Josh Baker, Darryl Shirley and Joey.
 Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County. 

Glenda Lea Johnston
 Glenda Lea Johnston, 71, of Woodville passed away November 27, 2008 at her residence.Born January 6, 1937 in Taft, California to Kenneth and Corrrine Mallory Perry, she was a long time resident of Modesto, California and resided the last three years in Woodville, Tx.  She worked in retail sales at K-Mart.           She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cheri Lynnet and Bill Martin of Rosharon, Tx., Kimberly and George Castillo of Modesto, Cal and Leta Steeley of Ceres, Cal.;  sons, Ken Spradling of Ceres, Cal., Steve Allen of Modesto, Cal., John Freeman of Ceres, Cal.; sister, Cherilyn Mancini of Modesto, Cal.; brothers, Gary Perry and David Perry both of Modesto, Cal.; twenty grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Cremation service was held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Riley Funeral Home.

Roy Lynn Wright

 Roy Lynn Wright, 48, of Woodville passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2008 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont of a heart attack.
  Roy was born in Vidor and had lived in Vidor and then in the Woodville area for the past three years.  He wa a member of the Woodville Gospel Assembly church.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Ann Wright; a twin brother, Glenn Wright and a brother, Ronnie Bagwell.
 He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lycrecia and Butch Wiggins of Cleveland, N.C.; brother, Johnny Bagwell; uncle and aunts, Varney and Ruth Durham of Doucette and Margie Stafford of Beaumont.
 A graveside service was held Sunday, November 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Bethany Cemetery near Colmesneil with Brother Varney Durham and Brother Steve Baker officiating. 
 Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Jean Nolan Minter
 Jean Nolan Minter, 77, of Woodville passed away peacefully on November 30, 2008.
  Born December 4, 1929 in Clay County, Texas to Claude and Thelma Combs Sims, she lived in Wichita Falls before moving to Tyler County 20 years ago.  She was a devoted wife and sister.
  She is survived by her loving husband, Gus Minter; brothers, Lee Watkins of Wichita Falls and Glenn Ray Watkins of Bastrop; a sister, Faye Eaton of Justice; and a host of other family members and friends.
            Cremation service was held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Ike W. Martin
 Ike W. Martin, 64, of Nacogdoches passed away November 28, 2008.
  Born June 10, 1944 in Spurger, Tx to Henry and Hazel Curry Martin, he lived in Nacogdoches for many years.  He was a self employed carpenter.  He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew and loved him.
  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roy Lee Martin, Melvin Martin, Andrew Martin, Edward Earl Martin and Lariet Martin.
  He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Tabatha and Kenneth Blankenship of Nacogdoches, Brenda and William McCarty of Lufkin and Lisa Kitchens of Weatherford; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Rose Langley of Ft. Worth, David Moore, Pete and Anita Alexander all of Lufkin; brothers, Bobby Martin and wife, Nelda of Huntington, Roy Gene Martin of Spurger and Lester Wilburn Martin of Buffalo; sisters, Alice Faye Carty of Dam-B, Fannie Mae Martin of Tyler, Betty Lou Martin and Annie Lee Thomas both of Town Bluff; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a close friend of 14 years, Billie Moore.
  A graveside service was held Monday, December 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger with Brother Cary Modisett officiating.  Visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home.
 Serving as pallbearers were Pete Alexander, Roy Smith, Brad Dominy, John Lewis, David Moore, Larry Langley and Mike Mize.
            Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Linda Kriley
  Linda Kriley, 61, of Houston, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2008 in Colmesneil, Texas
. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery near Colmesneil.  Officiating will be Luther Bolenbarker.  Serving as pallbearers are Luke Wilkinson, Matt Wilkinson, Kain Rawls, Rodney Smith, Randy Heiser and Daniel Armstrong.
  Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 2nd from 500-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
  Linda was born December 21, 1946 to W.E., Jr. & Vallie Harkness Wilkinson in Nacogdoches, Texas.  She was a long time resident of Houston and worked for J.P. Morgan Bank as an accounts broker.  She loved her grandson, and in addition she loved flowers, antiques, the country and travelling.  She appreciated western themes, horses, and rodeos.  She was a member of Humble Church of Christ.
  She is survived by her mother, Vallie “Sweetie” Wilkinson of Houston; sons Michael Brent Kriley & Wanda Pinson of Magnolia and Jason Kriley of Houston; brother & sister-in-law, Buddy & Janice Wilkinson of Colmesneil; sisters & brothers-in-law, Kay & Randy Heiser of Colmesneil and Sheri & Rodney Smith of Houston; grandson, Aiden Thomas Kriley and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
            Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville, Texas.

Grover Ray Ross
 Grover Ray Ross, 55, of Rockland passed away November 30, 2008.
 Born December 29, 1952 to Grover C. and Etta Ross, he was a lifelong resident of Rockland.  He was a self employed building contractor and a member of the Rocky Springs Baptist Church.
 He was preceded in death by his mother,Etta Ross; brother, Jimmy Ray Ross and a sister, Juanita Minter.
 He is survived by his loving family, father, Grover C. Ross of Rockland; daughters, Christina Ross Graves of Vidor and Crystal Ross of Colorado; son, Brain LaFratta of Virginia; sisters, Mary Bethke of Colmesneil and Shirley Johnson of Vidor; grandchildren, Ricky George, Chance LaFratta and Brianna LaFratta; and a host of other family members and friends.
 Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2008, 1 P.M. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Gregory Cemetery.  Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Erleene King Pope
   Erleene King Pope, aged 89, passed away November 30, 2008, at Vidor Manor Nursing Home in Vidor, Texas, after a short illness. 
   She was born June 7, 1919, to Charles Benjamin King and Bertha Sarah Moon in Fullerton, Louisiana.  She lived most of her life in Doucette.  She is preceded in death by her husband, W. H. (Slim) Pope, Jr. her sister Christine King Andrews and her parents.She is survived by her daughter June Murdock and husband Don of Houston, her grandson Scott Murdock of Coppell, Texas, her granddaughter Melissa Hicks of Macon, Georgia, and three great-grandchildren, Daniel Hicks, Reagan Hicks, and Justin Murdock.
 Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 11 a.m. , with visitation at 9:30 a.m., at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville.  Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Woodville.  Services are under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
 The family wishes to thank Melinda Steepleton for her years of love and care.
