Tyler County Booster- December 20, 2009 - December 31, 2009

Evelyn Lewis
Evelyn Marie Lewis, 89, of Woodville passed away unto her Lord on December 18, 2009. Born January 22, 1920 in Beeville, Tx to William and Frances Barbars Maresh, she lived in Houston before moving to Woodville many years ago. She had worked in the Woodville ISD School Cafeteria for many years. She was a loving and faithful member of the Hillister Assembly of God Church where she touched the lives of many people. She was preceded in death by her parents and great granddaughter, Jordan Largent. Sister Lewis is survived by her daughters, Frances Johnson of Houston and Evelyn Louise Wicke of Beeville; son, Richard Largent of Longview; grandchildren, Nancy Williams and James Largent both of Woodville, Peggy Gaspard of Hessmer, LA, Karen Rodgers of Houston, Deborah Breen of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph Johnson of Corpus Christi, Steven Johnson of Housotn, Tony Wicke and J. J. Wicke both of Beeville; thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rusty West officiating. Burial followed at Camp Ground Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were family and friends. Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Granville Carter
Granville Sterling Carter, 79, of Woodville left this world to be with his heavenly father on December 15, 2009. Granville was born in Chandler, TX, to George and Jessie Ponder Carter. He retired from the Kansas City Railroad in 1989, to devote his time to his church, fishing, hunting and his family. He is survived by his loving wife Paula Carter; sons Jerry Carter and wife Brenda, Steve Carter and wife Candy, and Johnny Carter; daughter Gabriele Blaga and husband Manfred. Grandchildren include Jerry Carter and fiancé Christy, Kristin Richard and husband Philip, Mandy Carter and fiancé Paul, Misty Carter and fiancé Chad, Billy Joe Carter, Kelli Scroggins and husband Tim, Katie Smith and husband Colby, Daniela Scheiffele and husband Ralf, and Simone Blaga. The great-grandchildren were the lights of his life and include: Jordan and Micah Carter, Sterling Richard, Peyton Scroggins, Maggie Shane, Sophie and Emma Smith. Granville also left behind a multitude of church family at the Woodville Missionary Baptist Church. Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jerry Carter, Snapper Cagle, Don Hutto, Bill Livingston, David Harris, Chris Willett and Larry Bowles. The Family would like to extend a warm and gracious thanks to Dr. O’Neal and Dr. Brown, the wonderful expert staff at Tyler County Hospital, and a very special thanks to Philip Richard and his co-workers at Memorial Herman Baptist Hospital in the cath. lab.

Marie Lamberth
Marie Lamberth, 86, of Warren passed away peacefully on December 17, 2009. Born December 21, 1922 in Rockland, Tx to George and Thelma Barrum Dykes, she lived most of her life in Beaumont before moving to Warren in 1998. She was retired from Bealls Department Store. Su rvivors include her loving children, Trudie Downs of Warren and Vernon Truett Lamberth, Jr. of Beaumont; brother, D. F. Dykes of Spurger; grandchildren, Rachelle Hardin and husband, Thomas of Wildwood, Ashley Tipton and husband, Jared of Wildwood; great granddaughter, Grace Hardin of Wildwood. A graveside service was held Sunday, December 20, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Rockland Cemetery with Brother Chance Sims officiating. Visitation was held Saturday evening at the funeral home. Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
