Earl Donald Smith
Earl Donald Smith, 85, of Woodville passed away December 24, 2008.
Born January 20, 1923 in Blueth County , Minn. to the late Carl and Martha Nelson Smith, he lived in Woodville for many years. He was retired from the United States Army with 20 years of service. Mr. Smith volunteered at Caring is Sharing for 25 years and drove the bus for the elderly and disabled of Tyler County where he met and made many friends. He served as the Chief of the Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire Department for 5 years and was a member of the Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Agnes Smith; daughters, Earlene Sartain and husband, Ronald, Elizabeth Cobb and husband, Richard, Linda Singleton and husband, Charles; sons, James Riley and wife, Jinny, George Riley and wife, Jeanny, Larry Riley and wife, Karen, Robert Riley and wife Margaret; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
A Rosary was held Sunday, December 28, 2008, at 3 P.M. followed by a service with Father Egidio Vecchio officiating. Visitation was held Sunday from 1 P.M. until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to Caring is Sharing 308 S. Beaver, Woodville, Texas 75979.
Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Jody Kathleen Brouse
Jody Kathleen Eason Bouse, 63, of Silsbee died December 23, 2008 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.
Jody was a lifelong resident of the area and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Sheila Newman and husband Danny of Silsbee, Teresa Bouse of Jasper, and Randy Bouse and wife Cheryl of Fred; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Venus Anderson of Bronson, James Lee Eason and Joyce McGallion both of Fred, Mickey Graham of Jena, Louisiana, and Leslie Eason of Fred.
Jody is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Bouse and parents, I. C. and Lorine Eason.
A memorial service will be Friday, January 2, 2009 at Fred Pentecostal Church in Fred under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee with burial at Cunningham Cemetery in Silsbee.

John Doyle Riley
John Doyle Riley, 65, of Woodville passed away December 27, 2008.
Born September 8, 1943 in Port Arthur, Tx to the late James and Carrol Vickers Riley, he lived in Woodville since 1984. He proudly served and retired from the United States Marine Corp with 20 years of service. He then worked for the United States Postal Service where he retired from this position.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Riley.
Mr. Riley is survived by his loving wife, Penelope Mitchell Riley; sons, David Riley of Taos, N.M., Matthew Riley and wife, Kim of Ridgecrest, CA, Timothy Riley and Tracy of Austin, Thomas Riley and wife, Leah of Denton and Steven Riley of Abilene; brothers, Allen Riley and wife, Shelia of Bryan, Ricky Riley of Lacomb, LA, James Riley of Hillister and Terry Riley of Lumberton; sister, Kay Riley of Lacomb, LA; grandchildren, Aaron Riley of Port Neches and Kenton Riley of Lumberton.
A military graveside service conducted by the U.S. Marine Corp will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Village Mills Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Ruby Pearline Norton Smith
Ruby Pearline Norton Smith, 80, of Hillister, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at her residence after a long illness.
Visitation was held Friday, December 26th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville. The funeral was held Saturday, December 27th at 2:00 p.m. at Hillister Baptist Church, Hillister, TX. Burial followed at Campground Cemetery in Woodville, TX. Officiating was Brother Clark Mahoney. Serving as pallbearers were Garry Mattingly, Richard Jordan, Richard Dean, Mike Whitley, Matt Standley and Pete Isaacks. Honorary pallbearer was Al Prichard.
Ruby was born in Hillister, Texas on July 10, 1928 to Harvey and Dona Norton, one of three children. She graduated from Kirby High School in 1945. She was a member of the Warren and Spurger Eastern Stars for about 40 years. She was married to her husband, Bryan Jay Smith, Jr. on March 22, 1946 in Hillister. She alongside her husband, ran the B.J. Smith Service Station for 31 years. She was a lifelong member of Hillister Baptist Church. She enjoyed her word search puzzles and visiting with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey & Don Norton; brother, Luther David Norton; and son, Wesley Earl Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bryan Jay “B.J.” Smith, Jr. of Hillister; son & daughters-in-law, B.A. & Linda Smith of Hillister and Marietta Reese Smith of Warren; daughters & son-in-law, Linda Sue Smith Williams of Hillister and Ruby Ann & Charles Maclin of Woodville; brother & sister-in-law, O.V. “Pete” & Betty Norton of Atlanta; grandchildren, Amy & Steven McCoy, Melissa & Timmy Davis, Jayme & Gary Simpson, Janay & Kevin Holden, Lauri Williams, Ashley & Caleb Black, Kelly Smith, Bryan Maclin and Amanda Maclin; great grandchildren, Jessica McCoy, Tyler McCoy, Teddy Davis, Gareth Simpson, Cameron Simpson, Javin Holden, Kaylar Holden and Natalie Black; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews & friends.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Aline Worthy, 87, passed away, Thursday, December 18, 2008 at her home in Warren.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Reverend Charles Klock of Grace Bible Church in Mauriceville officiated.
Interment was on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Cemetery in Warren, Texas with Reverend Troy Richardson of First Baptist Church in Warren officiating.
Mrs. Worthy was born November 23, 1921 in Hagerville, Texas to Earl and Addie Mae (Pearson) Collins. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Jay Worthy; sister, Marie Pate and aunt, Jessie Angelo.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Sam Ashworth of Beaumont and Linda and Gary Havens of Warren; grandchildren, Angela Hollingsworth and husband Dwayne, Aaron Ashworth, Andy Ashworth and Gary Havens, Jr. and wife Maryann; great grandchildren, Meagan Hollingsworth, Logan Ashworth, Tyler Hollingsworth, Piper Ashworth and Miller Ashworth. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Hill of California, Jeanette Williams of Pollok, Texas, Billie Collins and Mollie Collins both of Warren.
The family would like to give a special thank you to those who cared for her, Dana Frazier and Healthcare Dynamics who provided home health services for two years. We would also like t thank Odyssey HealthCare and the continuous care team.
William Riley, Jr.
William Abner Riley, Jr., 74, of Colmesneil passed away December 23, 2008.
Born June 22, 1934 in Boston, Mass. To the late William and Ruth Payrow Riley, Sr., he lived in Norton, Mass then moved to Vermont and then to moved to Colmesneil three years ago. Mr. Riley retired with 30 plus years of service as the Vice President of Airco. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #254 in Homer, Texas, a member of the American Legion Post #2033 in Woodville, a Colmesneil Charter Lions Club Member, a U.S. Navy Veteran and he drove a school bus for the Colmesneil ISD.
Mr. Riley is survived by his loving wife, Eva Hewes Riley; sons, Arthur H. Riley of Woodville and William A. Riley of North Haverhill, N.H.; daughter, Dawn Brist of Houston; twin sister, Ruth C. Burke of Halifax, Mass; six grandsons and three great grandchildren.
Cremation service was held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
