Beulah Ann Dawson, 80, died Wednesday morning. Dec. 30, 2009, in the Tyier County Hospital, Woodville, TX, after an illness. Mrs. Dawson was born on Dec. 26, 1929, in Henderson, TX, and had lived in Pineland for over 50 years, where she worked as a teacher’s aid in the West Sabine ISD. Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pineland, Red Hat Society, and the Pineland Bridge Club. She is survived by her son, Greg Dawson of Woodville, her daughter Susan Kilcrease of Brookeland, two brothers, Jack Goins of Victoria and Larry Goins of Granbury. She is also survived by her sister Patsy Lowery of Lufkin, six grandchildren; Robert, Todd, Lindsay, Kalli, Kaylee and Brandi. Four Great-grandchildren; Hailee, Lexee, Alana, and Addison. Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband Winifred J. Dawson and son Gary Dawson. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services was at ll:am, Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, TX. Burial followed in the Pineland Cemetery, Pineland, TX.
Christine Wallet, 72, of Woodville, passed away, Monday, December 28, 2009 at Woodville Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services were Saturday, January 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Holland Cemetery in Village Mills. Officiating were Brother Thomas McGarrity and Brother Don Cook. Serving as pallbearers were Dewayne Collier, John Collier, Herbert Ayers, Kendall Ayers, Charlie Stewart, Steven Hill. Honorary pallbearers were David Wallet, Lonnie Wallet and Charlie Wallet. Visitation was held on Friday, January 1st from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Christine was born May 20, 1937 to Wesley & Vivian Gustafason Collier in Woodville, Texas. She was a former resident of Houston and was a longtime resident of Woodville. She enjoyed plants, flowers and her dog, Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Gene Wallet in 2001. She is survived by her sons, Jason Wallet of Woodville and Mark Wallet & wife, Dee of Shenandoah; daughters, Vicky Keeton & husband, David of Houston, Christal Wallet of Village Mills and Janell Taylor & husband, Keith of Woodville; brother, Raymond Collier & wife, Dorothy of Woodville; sister, Elizabeth Tesson & husband, Leroy of Woodville; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Mr. Donnie Ray Carey, 55, of Kountze, Tx, went from labor to reward on Wednesday December 23, 2009, after an automobile accident in Kountze, Tx. Donnie Ray’s going home celebration was held on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the Greater Mt. Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Kountze, Tx, at 1 pm. Donnie Ray’s final resting place is at the Trinity Valley District Cemetery in Kountze, Tx.
Edward Jean Knauff, 76, of Woodville, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home in Woodville, Texas. Graveside services were held Monday, January 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas. Officiating was Father Steve Secaur. Visitation was held on Sunday, January 3, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville. Edward was born June 27, 1933, to Albert Frank & Helen Knauff in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a former resident of Dickinson and had lived in Woodville since 1997. He had been in the Merchant Marines and married Katherine “Kay” Knauff in 1966. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodville. He is survived by his wife, Kay Knauff of Woodville; sisters, Mary Rhinehart & husband, Nelson of Baltimore,MD, Patricia Blondale of Baltimore, MD, and Gloria Hughes of League City; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Elmer R. Williford, 88, of Lufkin passed away December 26, 2009. Born in Warren, Tx to Guy and Nora Mae Gant Williford, he lived most of his life in Nederland where he retired from Neches Butane Products as an operator before moving to Lufkin in 2004. He was a member of the Corinth Primitive Baptist Church in Appleby, Tx and a World War II Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Williford. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Edyth G. Williford; daughters, Marilyn Grace Murphy and husband Jim of Sugar Land and Jerilyn Ann Stephens of Lufkin; sister, Maxine Clark of Bridge City; grandchildren, Dana Huntsinger and husband Chris of Cypress, Amy Robinson and husband Adrian of Sugar Land, Dawn Brandenburg and husband Brandon of Bonham, Christine Sehon of Groves, Miles Stephens of Lufkin, Wade Stephens and wife Tiffany of San Augustine, and Jeff Stephens and wife Nicole of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Will and Wyatt Huntsinger, Beckett and Porter Robinson, Andrew and Rowan Brandenburg, Autumn, Rayce and Summer Stephens and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral service was held Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Elder Michael Rhodes, Elder Gary Rhodes and Elder Gerald Read officiating. A graveside service followed at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with the United States Army presenting the American Flag to the family. Visitation was held Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were Lenvil Stanaland, Alvin Stanaland, Delbert Peet, and Wayne Vize. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Lamar Carter and J. D. Read. Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Graveside services for Frank “Pete” Fowler, 74, of Fred were held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 28, 2009, at Frank’s Branch Cemetery in Fred under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Visitation began at noon Sunday, December 27, 2009, at 1251 CR 4905 in Fred. Mr. Fowler died December 25, 2009 at his residence in Fred. Pete was a native of Doucette and a longtime resident of Fred. He was retired from construction. Survivors include daughters Sandy Chance of Silsbee, Karen Sims of Fred and Donna Eddins of Zavalla; sons Randy Fowler of Silsbee, Dusty Fowler of Warren and Daren Fowler of Fred; sister Sharon Payne Colley of Town Bluff; grandchildren Charles Moore, Randy Fowler, Jr. Frank Fowler, Boddie Crosby, Sheena Fowler, Michael Hollyfield, Dee Dee Elkins, Sherry Sheffield, J. R. Chance, Kristina Boren, Gary Waldrep, Faye Ann Waldrep, Rachel Waldrep, Little Michael McKinney and Heather Mitcham and numerous great-grandchildren.
