Karen Rose Allison Bowlin
  Karen Rose Allison Bowlin, 40, of Calabasas, California went peacefully to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, July 14, 2008, after a truly courageous and inspiring battle with breast cancer. She fought hard and long, but the time finally came to let go, say goodbye and to be in peace. She was surrounded by and filled with love every step of her journey and was peaceful and with her family and pastor when she let go of this earthly life.

  She was born on July 2, 1968 in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up in Woodville, Texas. She was a 1986 graduate of Woodville High School. In 1990, she received a BA in Interior Design with a Minor in Business from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas where she was a member of the Beta XI Chapter of Tri-Delta Sorority.

  Survivors include her loving husband, Kendall Bowlin; her precious children, Cole Robert Bowlin, age 7, Luke Yates Bowlin, age 5, and Sadie Rose Bowlin, age 3 all of Calabasas, California; her parents, Robert and Earlene Allison of Woodville, Texas and the late Jimmy Wayne Krueger of Omaha, Nebraska; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sanford and Pat Bowlin of Colorado City, Texas; her grandparents, the late Edward and Esther Timm of Lyons, Nebraska, Elton Allison and the late, Carolyn Allison of Woodville, Texas, and Rush Neff and the late Puddy Neff of Colorado City, Texas; her sisters, Cynthia Catherine Allison of Dallas, Texas, Ashley Elizabeth Allison Bares and husband, Brian of Austin, Texas; Christina Louise Allison Ledbetter and husband, Jared of Camp Pendleton, California; her brother-in-law, Kevin Bowlin and wife, Kim of Katy, Texas; her nephews, Truman Robert Bares of Austin, Texas, Brandon and Britton Bowlin of Katy, Texas; her niece, Isabelle Esther Ledbetter of Camp Pendleton, California. She is the niece of Loren and Judy Timm of Omaha, Nebraska, Don and Karen Timm of Lyons, Nebraska, Sharon Allison Moseley and Barbara Ann Allison of Woodville, Texas, and Sidney and Belinda Allison of Hillister, Texas. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.

  Karen is in the care of Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, California until the funeral services being held for her at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 32111 Watergate Road, Westlake Village, California, with pastor Dick Thompson officiating. A memorial service will be held for Karen at the First Baptist Church of Woodville, Texas at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 with pastors, Dr. Raymond Parker and Rev. Ross Shelton officiating.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in her name at Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and the First Baptist Church of Woodville, Texas.

  We will never replace her, but her love, her spirit and the inspiration she gave all of us will never wane, and remain in our hearts always and forever.

            Local arrangements are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.


James Lee 'Jim' Huskey

  James Lee "Jim" Huskey, 80, of Woodville, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Holiday Pines Manor in Woodville, Texas.

  Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Magnolia Cemetery all in Woodville.

  Officiating were Jim Crews and Jimmy Crews.  Serving as pallbearers were Gib Flocker, Gil Flocker, James R. Bement, James K. Bement, Bill Yawn and Andrew Burns

  Visitation was held on Monday, July 21st from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

  James was born October 16, 1927 to James Lawson & Alice Marie Seabridge Huskey in Fairfax, Oklahoma.  He was formerly of Crystal Beach and had lived in Woodville for the past thirteen years.  He was a retired supervisor and had served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Colmesneil.

  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annie Ruth Huskey of Woodville; son & daughter-in-law, James Harlan & Laura Huskey of Seabrook; daughters & sons-in-law, Pamela Jean Huskey of Plano, Sheryl Ann & James Bement of Calgary, Canada and Gail & Gib Flocker of West Bend Wisconsin; sister, Cleo Backus of Twin Falls, Idaho; and grandchildren, James Kevin Bement, Gil Flocker, Krista Bement and Holly Flocker.

            Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.


Barbara Tesch

  Barbara Tesch, 73, of Bridge City passed away peacefully on July 18, 2008.

  Born June 17, 1935 in Hemphill, Tx to the late Tom E. and Ruby Jones Speights, she lived in Tyler County for many years before moving to Bridge City.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew and loved her.

  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ted Beard of Bridge City; son, Roddy Tesch of Port Neches; grandchildren, Clint Huckabay, Courtney and Jeremiah Johnson and Shane and Authum Tesch all of Bridge City, Roddy Tesch, Jr. of Port Arthur, Tiffany Stafford and Cameron Moak both of Nederland; great grandchildren, Abigail MacCammond Huckabay, Halle Huckabay, and Bella Huckabay all of Bridge City, Lannie Smith of Orangefield, Alicia Tesch of Vidor, Jaice Beck of Nederland, Mariah Tesch of Bridge City; sister, Becky Bossier of Vidor and a special friend, Mary Broussard of Orange.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Tesch and a son, Brent Tesch.

  Funeral service was held Monday, July 21, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jeff Bell officiating.   Burial followed at Colmesneil City Cemetery.  Visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home.

  Serving as pallbearers were Clint Huckabay, Shane Tesch, Jeremiah Johnson, Glen Huckabay, Byron Frosch and Lee Roy Bossier.

Hiawatha Gill, Sr.

  Hiawatha Gill, Sr., 93, of Woodville passed away peacefully on July 19, 2008.

Bobby 'Bob' Joe Shepherd

  Bobby Joe “Bob” Shepherd was born February 13, 1939 in Emilee, Texas to the late John Clifton and Eula Lee (Hanks) Shepherd, he passed away at the age of 69 on Friday, July 18, 2008 with his family by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, John Clifton Shepherd, Jr. and two brother-in-laws, Ray Shepherd and M.L. Fortenberry.

  Bob was successfully involved in several businesses over the years, most notably the wholesale lighting company and construction supply company, “S & H Lighting”. Bob married Louwaine on December 9, 1989 in Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock. Bob and his wife were members of Hutto Baptist Church.

  Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 19 years, Louwaine Shepherd of Jarrell, 7 children, Bo Shepherd and his wife Andrea of San Gabriel, Calvin Shepherd and his wife Sindy of Elgin, Dianne Riley and her husband Eddy of Hutto, Mashell Wilkerson of New York, Lisa Moerbe and her husband Clint of Jarrell, Travis Farmer and his wife Patti of New York, and Troy Farmer and his wife Christy of Round Rock. He is also survived by his sister, Audrey Shepherd of Woodville; along with 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.

            The family will gather for visitation on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Gabriel’s Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Services celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Hutto Baptist Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Hutto Cemetery.


John L. Roy

            John L. Roy, 78, of Hillister, Tx., passed away Monday, July 21, 2008.Funeral services are pending at Coleman's Funeral Home.
