Ashlei Odom
Ashlei Michelle Paul Odom, 22, of Spurger, Texas passed away April 14, 2009. Ashlei lost her battle with an illness and went home to be an angel. She is survived by her husband, Heber John Odom and their son, Jace Tyler Odom of Spurger; parents, Gary and Wanda Clements of Humble; sisters, Sera Clements of Spurger and Kaitlyn Clements of Norman, OK; brother, Parker Clements of Humble; grandparents, Gene and Barbara Farrar of Indian Springs; in-laws, Milton and Betty Odom of Spurger; sisters-in-law, Emelie Odom and Megan Odom of Spurger and Sarah Fruge and husband, Kevin of Vidor; brother-in-law, Jarom Odom of Spurger; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Ashlei was a 2004 graduate of Spurger High School where she was a cheerleader and played volleyball, basketball, tennis and ran track. She married her high school sweetheart, Heber Odom, in 2005. Their son, Jace was born in 2006. Ashlei touched everyone in some way. Our Lord and Savior has taken her home and she will be truly missed by all. Funeral service was held Sunday, April 19, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Gordon McCabe officiating. Burial followed at Town Bluff Cemetery near Woodville. Visitation was held Saturday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were Milton Odom, Jarom Odom, Marcus McCabe, Johnathan Murphy, Clayton Odom, Dennis Youst and Justin McCabe. Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Earl Heiselbetz
Earl Carl Heiselbetz, 79, of Warren passed away April 24, 2009 at the Tyler County Hospital. Born April 27, 1929 in Loeb, Tx to Herman and Helena Heiselbetz, he lived in Warren for many years. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was a retired truck driver for the Teamsters Union and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Mae Heiselbetz; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Ray Bohrer of West Virginia, Cathrin and Tommy Wendling of Buna; brothers, Herman Heiselbetz of Fred, J. B. Heiselbetz of Beaumont and Loyd Heiselbetz of Florida; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral service was held Monday, April 27, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were Charlie Ensign, Michael Guy, J. W. Landry, Brian Miller, Rocky Miller and William Miller. Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Billie Ruth Martin
Billie Ruth Martin, 57, lost her courageous battle with cancer on April 25, 2009, at home in Woodville, Texas with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home with Dr. Raymond Parker officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday April 28, 2009 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville, Texas. Billie was born on February 24, 1952 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Robert Tucker and Willie Marie Chester. She was a resident of Woodville, Texas since 1972 where she owned and operated Little Britches Child Care Center. In 1994 she helped established and co-owned RM Engine Center and Automotive Sales. More recently, her passion and center of devotion became her granddaughter Adriana. Billie dearly loved her family and she will remain in their hearts. Preceding her in death were her father Robert T. Chester and sister Edna Chester Clarke. She is survived by husband of 38 years Robert (Bobby) Martin Sr. of Woodville, TX; her mother Willie Marie Chester of Bossier City, LA; sons Robert Martin Jr. of Shreveport, LA and Jared Martin of Woodville, TX; step daughters Anjelle Martin of Crowley, LA and Michelle Martin of Lafayette, LA; sister Carol Gardner of Shreveport, LA; brothers Robby Chester of Bossier City, LA and Bobby Chester of Haughton, LA; and granddaughter Adriana Marie Martin of Shreveport, LA. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, and Lake Area Hospice for the loving care they provided Billie during her valiant fight. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Frederick Mattox
Rev. Dr. Frederick Eugene Mattox, I. 49, of Weirgate, Texas, went from labor to reward on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. A Home-Going Service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 710 Church Street, in Beaumont, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. There will be a public viewing starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of services. His journey home will conclude at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Wiergate, Texas. Services entrusted with Donald E. Coleman Funeral Home, Kountze, Texas, (409) 246-1710. Rev. Dr. Frederick Mattox, I, while pasturing in the Beaumont area, spent his life devoted to the Lord’s work. He spent many tireless hours helping the citizens in every capacity. Rev. Mattox received several awards, honors, and accolades over the years. He was a member of many organizations and alliances here in the Beaumont area where he resided. He dedicated his life to the betterment of all those he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. J.D. and Mrs. Dorothy Mattox. He leaves to cherish his loving memory four children, Frederick Eugene Mattox, II, Jason Bernard Mattox, Justin Dewayne Mattox, and Jessica Elizabeth Mattox, all of Beaumont, Texas, one granddaughter, Kaylee Mattox of Beaumont, two sisters, Kimberly Regina Lewis, Loretta Rene Mattox, two brothers, Clifton Bernard Mattox, and Jessie Clifton Mattox, all of Jasper, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Gayle Moore
Funeral services for Gayle Moore, 61, of Fred, Will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Moore died April 20, 2009 at her residence. A native of Spurger and a longtime resident of Fred, Gayle worked as a department manager for Wal-Mart. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Gayle was preceded in death by her husband Doyle Moore; sister Elaine Morris; brothers Eugene Winkle and Wayne Winkle and father Walter Winkle. Survivors include her sons, Stuart Moore of Silsbee and Ricky Moore of Fred; daughter Roxie Lowe and husband Steve of Burkeville; mother Mary Clowers of Spurger; brothers Larry Winkle and Melvin Winkle, both of Spurger; grandchildren Ethan Moore of Fred, Ashley Lowe of Center and Amber, Daniel and Kayla Lowe of Burkeville.
