Loy Lannis Conner
  Loy Lannis Conner, 87, of Woodville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas.
  Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Seamans Cemetery in Chester.  Officiating were Brother Jeff Lowe, Brother Jacob Conner and Brother Troy Richardson.  Serving as pallbearers were Chip Hammonds, John Svboda, Darren Washburn, Glen Conner, Bruce Conner and Jimbo Swinney.
  Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 10 from 5 to- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
  Loy was born July 31, 1921 to Louis Chesley & Lottie Loraine Davis Conner in Colmesneil, Texas.  He was a former resident of Nederland where he worked many years for Gulf Oil.  He was retired utility operator for the City of Chester where he resided for many years.  He was a member of Dogwood Hills Baptist Church and a WWII U.S. Army veteran.
  He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Novelle Platt Conner; son, Lamar Conner; daughter, Joanne Hammonds; brothers, Tommy Conner, Leo Conner, Harrol Conner and Ray Conner.  He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Irene Conner of Woodville; son & daughter-in-law, Nolan & Brenda Conner of Chester; daughter & son-in-law, Dianne & John Allen Gilchrist of Woodville; eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother & sisters-in-law, Carrol & Frances Conner of Warren, Betty Joyce Conner of Warren, Theresa Conner of Groves and Lexie Conner of Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
            Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Albert Wells
  Albert Wells, 59, of Woodville, passed away Friday, October 31, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
  Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 5th at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Woodville, Texas.
  Visitation will begin on Wednesday, November 5th at 11 a.m. until service time at the pavilion at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
  Albert was born January 25, 1949 to Albert Erdman and Betty Jane Mullen Wells in Canastota, New York.  He was a former resident of Valley Mills, Texas and had lived in Woodville for the past ten years.  He had been employed with Pep Boys and was an U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran.  He was a very generous person who loved being Santa Claus at Christmas time because of his likeness of Santa Claus.  He had a real talent in restoring older vehicles and sharing that knowledge with others.
  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Wells and granddaughter, Natalie Kozma;  He is survived by his wife, Darlene Wells of Wells; sons & daughter-in-law, James Wells of Woodville and Jeff & Tonya Wells of Morgantown, West Virginia; daughter, Ashley Wells of Woodville; brothers & sister-in-law, Rick & Doreen Wells of Whittier, CA and James Wells of Anaheim, CA; sister & brother-in-law, Daisie & Gary Waters of Cranfills Gap; and grandchildren, Tyler Wells, Ryan Wells, Anthony Wells and Brian Kozma.
            Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville, Texas.
