Levete Wheeler Alexander
            Levete Wheeler Alexander, 75, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at Dogwood Trails Manor in Woodville, Texas.
            He is survived by Lucille Alexander (wife) of Livingston, TX, Donna Shendo (daughter), Carlene and Brady Bullock (daughter and son-in-law) of Livingston, TX, Norma & Sherald Sylvestine (daughter and son-in-law) of Flint, TX, John Alexander (son) of Livingston, TX, Kay & Quanah Whitethunder (daughter and son-in-law) of Livingston, TX, Ann Spencer (step-daughter) of Goose Creek, SC, 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, Joe John (brother) of Indian Springs, TX and Weaver Battise (aunt) of Livingston, TX.
            He was preceded in death by his mother Phoebe Alec John, his son Glendale Williams, and his grandparents Rhoda Alec & Husband Joe.
            He was born January 03, 1932 in Polk County, Texas the son of Phoebe (Alec) Unknown.  Pallbearers will be Edmond Bullock, Neal Bullock, Obrey Alec, Len Sylvestine, Lonnie Battise and Darth Battise. Military Honors Provided by VFW Post #8568.
            Funeral services were held Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Beech Creek Assembly of God.  Bro. Don Goodwin and Bro. Derrell Surface officiated.  Burial was held in the Indian Reservation Cemetery in Livingston.

Zelda Gay Durham Arrieta 
            Zelda Gay Durham Arrieta, 67, of Fannett, died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
            A native of Port Arthur and lifelong area resident, Gay was a homemaker.
            She is survived by her husband, Rolly Arrieta of Fannett; daughters, Kathy Laurent and her husband Tommy of Silsbee and Linda Marshall and her husband Jimmie of Lumberton; sister, Kathleen Ramsey of Woodville; stepchildren, Jerome Arrieta and Mario Arrieta both of Fannett, Marilyn Teichman of North Carolina, Scott Fountain of Silsbee, and Bridget Fountain of Beaumont; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hassel Durham and Eula Wallace Durham.
            Funeral service were held 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Cemetery in Warren, Texas.  A gathering of family and friends was held 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the mortuary.

Brandon Lee Kort

 Brandon Lee Kort, 29, of Chester passed away October 3, 2007 in Lufkin, Texas.
            Born June 8, 1978 in Waco, Tx to Joseph and Virginia Williams Kort, he lived in Chester for a few years.  He was a boilermaker for Ohmsted Construction.
            He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Kort.
            He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanna Kort of Chester; daughters, Brianna Kort and Shelby Pate both of Chester and Shyanna Kort of Waco; sons, Aldon Kort and Junior Henson both of Chester and Nathaniel Kort of Waco; father, Joseph Kort of San Angelo; brothers, Jason Kort and Andy Kort both of San Angelo; sister, Sissy Kort; and other family members and friends.
            A graveside service was held Sunday, October 7, 2007, at 2 P.M. at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester with Brother Mark Martin officiating.  Visitation was held Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Clarence Schima

            Clarence Schima, 81, of Woodville, went to be with His Lord Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at the Woodville Health & Rehabilitation Center. 
            Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Woodville with a 2 p.m. graveside service at Grand View Memorial Park Cemetery in Pasadena. Officiating was Father Egidio Vecchio and Deacons Paul Rachal & Hector Cantu.  Serving as pallbearers were Robert Schima, Travis Turner, Matthew Schima, Kevin Schima, Joe Gold and Lammy Sittig.
`Visitation began at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville
`Clarence was born July 5, 1926 to Frank & Betty Orsak Schima in Hallettsville, Texas. He was a former resident of La Porte and Baytown and had lived in Woodville for the past twenty-seven years. He was retired sheet metalist from Exxon Research and was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran.  Clarence really enjoyed his Whispering Pines Nursery and met numerous good friends.  He was loved dearly by his family and friends.
`He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Betty Schima of Deer Park, brothers, Lester Schima of LaPorte, Bruno Schima of Hallettsville and Victor Appelt of Baytown.
 `He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Schima of Woodville; sons & daughter-in-law, Bob Schima of New Braunfels and Jerry & Keri Schima of Pasadena; daughter & son-in-law, Linda & Richard Turner of Baytown; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
 `Memorials may be made to Odyssey Healthcare of Beaumont, 550 Fannin St., Beaumont, Texas  77701-3313 in his honor for ministry to others in need.

Ronnie James Pack

  Ronnie James Pack, 53, of Spurger went to be with his Lord on  October 2, 2007 in Houston.
 Born February 27, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas to Van Pack and Maudie Kirby Tannehill, he lived in Florida before moving to Spurger 13 years ago.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Spurger.
            He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Pack of Spurger; daughters, Amanda Ford and Carrie Pack both of Spurger; grandchildren, Capri and Rainey Ford of Spurger; mother, Maudie Tannehill of Forth Worth; brothers, David Lee Pack of Florida and Rodney Pack of Forth Worth; sister, Susan Arnold of Fort Worth; and numerous family and friends.
            Funeral service was held Saturday, October 6, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Spurger with Brother Paul Boughan officiating.  Burial followed at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger.  Visitation was held Friday evening at the funeral home.
            Serving as pallbearers were Bubba Means, Thomas Jenkins, Shane Johnson, Rodney Pack, Jacob Spittler and Larry.

Paul Jones 
            Funeral services for Lawrence Paul Jones, 74, of Warren will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Fred Community Cemetery.
            Mr. Jones died October 2, 2007 at his home in Warren. 
            Survivors include wife Madeline Peck Jones of Warren; daughter Lisa Pauline Abshire of Warren; grandchildren Patricia Madeline Watson and Curtis Paul Watson and great grandchild David Paul Sanders.
